Had a lovely couple of nights stay in the mermaid hotel. Our room service ladies Tj and Billie were extremely helpful and polite. The room was very clean and tidy and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Will definitely be staying again!

We went for my sisters birthday today very quiet in there.. We love a carvery ..but we were so disappointed, waste of money..very small choice of vegetables roast potatoes burnt and wet inside couldn't eat them and the parsnips were burnt and dried out couldn't cut them.yorkshire was rubbery...I took it back and swapped for turkey carrots and new potato..won't be going again that's for sure..spoilt our lunch out.. for a £1 more We had a carvery and dessert at chestnuts ..

Disappointed, as we didn’t even get to experience a full visit. On arrival the pub was quite quiet, we stood in the door way waiting to be seated, we must have stood there for about 10 mins, 3 members of staff made eye contact with us but not 1 acknowledged us or said they would be with us shortly. Please correct me if wrong but the members of staff we did see didn’t actually seem that busy, one making coffees, another waiting for the coffees and one carrying a plate. We left because of this and went to The Chestnut Tree Farm instead.

Nice meal for a good price to be fair. The Mrs had the carvery which she loved! I had the mixed grill which was lovely also. Child friendly for our 2 year old too. Would definitely recommend and we will return.

Brilliant, absolutely Brilliant. Room, Cleanliness, Staff, excellent, Manager 'Julie' superb 'spot on'. Nothing is too much trouble for her. She is a real an asset to 'Marsdens '.Food especially breakfast 1st class. So much so, after having the 'full English ' Thursday (which was Big) . The next day I only had the Sausage, Bacon & Egg sandwich which was cooked to perfection. Beers at acceptable prices. An added bonus the Mermaid honours 'Blue Light Cards' .This is definately a venue to use as a 'Base' when exploring Norfolk & Suffolk. You cannot get a better hotel / Inn especially at the price & quality.

Tried a different place to stay for this visit to the office as a chance to my normal digs. Very impressed, comfortable bed, spacious room, friendly staff and a cracking breakfast to set me up for the day ahead. Didn't try the evening food due to my arrival, although had a pint and that was good. Free parking and WiFi which tje other place doesn't offer so this could be a winner, plus its close to tne office. Can save if you book direct at Marstons Inn via their site. Value for money achieved here, its in the list now for future bookings.

Overall a good lunchtime experience. Myself and a friend booked a table but there were no staff seating guests so we seated ourselves. The carvery was delicious, and the desserts. Not too pricey. The staff seemed very busy and fewer of them than perhaps needed. The telephone was also ringing constantly from a spam number. Staff were polite and welcoming, just needed another server perhaps.

Took family members there because it had a carvery option and must say very disappointed. Used to be better. Meats were dry, last bits, beef was very chewy and hardly any of it left for a decent portion even though is was dinner time. Vegetables really need to be looked at as they too were drying out. Not really worth it TBH. Waitress was lovely and helpful so that's a plus

We used this hotel as a stopover. The rooms are very clean and tidy and nice and quiet. It is attached to a pretty good pub restaurant decent pub menu and reasonably priced. this is the second time we have stayed there and will use it again next time we travel to Suffolk,

This is a modern food orientated family pub with an attached hotel. It a a Marston's pub - a brewery famous for its draft bitters - sadly none were available (and looked like they hadn't been for some time). Was part of a big group, but we ordered food separately. I ordered "Surf and Turf". The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tasty, The surf element consisted of three bits of deep fried scampy which was an insult to be honest. My partner's sausage and mash appeared to have been reheated - all items were hard and not very nice, As we were part of a large group it wasn't really possible to complain at the time. The experience was topped off by the bar keeping running out of gins - on a Saturday evening.... I gave some feedback to Marstons but the responses felt "stock" and were full of platitudes - with excuses on why they would not let me know what action they had taken - very poor. I would avoid this pub and perhaps the Marstons chain for the time being

Best carvery i've had in years, potatoes were nicely ruffled, veg was very tasty, with lovely herb flovours, meat was tender and yorkshire was amazing, highly recommend the carvery......

Absolutely disgusted with the service we had this evening. After watching our food be placed on another table and for some of the party to start picking at our food, the waitress then took the 7 meals away, to bring them straight back to our table after they had started to be eaten. We asked has it be recooked, which we knew it hadn't but we were told yes! ( imagine cooking 7 meals within less than 5 minutes) Our food came back out, cold, wrong and still the same food as before. We were offered a discount for the old food. The waitress was then herd muttering about us as we refused to eat the food and sent it back. We felt sick to think we were given food that has been recycled. ? Will never to back.
