I don't really want to be scathing about my stay here, but I could be! It started off very badly, but was only saved, just, by the pub's pleasant atmosphere, music and barman and the food was good. The veggie breakfast was the best I've had anywhere, including veggie black pudding! (I did check!) As for the accomodation side and customer service thereof, it left a lot to be desired. All I would say is, I won't ever stay there again.Food & drinks: Reasonable choice of beers, food good.

Brilliant VFM, fab breakfast & really hospitable team of staff. Attending a local wedding in Thorpeness so unlikely we'd return (unless there's another matrimonial) but would certainly recommend. ?

We stayed in the Bee Cabin, great value, excellent, cosy, clean and comfortable. No pillow protectors though and bedding too warm. Winter duvet in summer and fleece bed sheet and duvet cover. Would of preferred a cooler duvet and cotton bed linen but other than that it was a great little stay with the added bonus of an ensuite with a nice powerful shower.Food & drinks: Food at this pub was really good. We took advantage of the evening bar menu and had a very nice meal. Expected average but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food, all freshly made. Liked the fact in didn't come out 5 minutes after ordering, good sign that the chefs are actually cooking your meal rather than microwaving it. Good portion sizes and really nice food. We really enjoyed a very good cooked breakfast too. Really tasty, great value.

Amazing find !Fabulous, friendly ,family run pubWe were greeted with a very warm welcome by our hosts .Our first pint of Aspalls was served and a few pints later we said goodnight to the lovely friendly locals that made our evening fun and full of laughter. We retired to the warm heated beautifully decorated chalet that was ours for the night. It was spotlessly clean had all that you needed ,tea, coffee making facilities ,a little table and chairs an amazingly comfortable bed ,a large shower room with a fab shower .In the morning a good hearty breakfast which was served beautifully with copious amounts of tea and coffeeWe can't wait for our next visit .The pub is situated very close to Aldeburgh and Thorpeness beaches ⛱️ an ideal place to stay and highly recommended 5*

Since new ownership it's not worth the time. Walked in through the front door and the blonde lady working saw me enter and didn't acknowledge me, went through to the bar and waited 15 minutes before being served a pint not even a "sorry for the wait" no smile just glum and rude. There was children in the upstairs apartment who would continuously come down and serve themselves drinks throughout the night without anyone of age behind the bar etc and the owners allow family and friends behind the bar as and when to serve themselves drink sometimes free of charge, yet they have guests waiting to be served themselves, it's not exactly a busy pub.. any wonder.

Just returned from a one nights stay here with my brother and sister in law. I had a lovely chalet called the Hedgehog. It was clean and very comfortable. We had an evening meal in the pub the food was really good lovely home made food. The breakfast was just as good as the evening meal a beautiful full English breakfast cooked very well and very tasty. The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly. A lovely welcoming family run business. Will definitely be coming back to stay again in the New Year.

We have just got home from staying at this beautiful pub/hotel. We stayed in one of the chalets which was so clean and comfy. The staff really can’t do enough for you and are really welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is amazing with cereal, toast, jam and a full English! so much choice. We also enjoyed a lovely evening meal and would highly recommended their fish and chips absolutely delicious. Looking forward to returning next year. Honestly if you are looking for a relaxing break with great food and lovely people I would highly recommend booking here.

Went for a family meal, was told there was live music on which we weren’t staying for so they sat us away from the music in the conservatory. The band set up yards away from our table and began sound testing whilst we were finishing our mains, to which we couldn’t hear each other speak. My daughter had dirty cutlery. The sachets of condiments on the table tasted funny, when checking they were almost 1yr out of date, salad cream made with egg! Put me off my food. My starter plate was left on the table, unlike everyone else’s, the waiter only took it when he brought me my main meal. Same again with my main meal, everyone else’s took bar mine. There was just too many little things to create an issue, such as being told they were all out of the drink my partner was drinking, to then finding some. Due to all these issues, we won’t be returning. Food was ok!
