We booked online for a special birthday not having been here before but what a fabulous place. Apart from a very warm welcome the food was delicious and portion sizes were more than enough. To top off the evening I even had a dessert with a candle in and a rendition of Happy Birthday ? Cannot recommend this place enough. 5 ⭐️

Superb service and a great menu, in fact two menus as there was a Christmas one aswell. Nothing is a problem here, if you want a certain dish but with salad instead of chips, or chips instead of rice you can have it. Portion size is fairly large but most mains are available in a reduced light bite form, and you'll need to leave room for one of the yummy deserts. The menu is extensive, plus the specials board, so there's something to suite most tastes and all at a reasonable price. Not surprisingly it was voted in the top ten of the best places to eat in Suffolk this year. As you can imagine it is quite popular so booking a table is essential to avoid disappointment especially at this time of year.

Fantastic evening at The Lion inn, as always the food was perfect and the staff friendly & welcoming. The great pricing just tops it!

Warm, homely atmosphere in this old school pub with old school prices. The staff were superfriendly and helpful. The food was standard pub grub and the portions were huge.

A proper old-fashioned pub which does excellent food at decent prices - and big portions. Lovely friendly staff and great service.

Just enjoyed a lovely meal. It was good wholesome fayre served hot, tasty and at a very good price and by a very friendly lady. We had the 'light bite' which was very amply proportioned. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a lovely, traditional pub with a comprehensive menu featuring many home-made dishes. I had whitebait to start, liver & bacon for my main and a delicious flapjack chocolate brownie for pudding. I particularly liked the fact that the main courses come in 2 sizes and if you opt for the "lighter" size, you have room for a starter and pudding! Really friendly, attentive service and all spotlessly clean. We were there with family to celebrate a 93rd birthday and all had a lovely time. It was my first visit but it won't be my last.

I've given one star for the staff who were lovely and one star for the beer which was good. However both inside and out the decor was awful, old looking and falling apart. This place was recommended to me as pub classics. I think the recommender must hate me, the food was awful. My starter from the specials board, Mozzerella sticks, they were dry looking, tasted ok, but nothing to get even slightly excited about, they looked like straight from a packet in the freezer, the dip from a jar, the salad bland straight from a packet. Unfortunately the worst was yet to come.I ordered from the menu 'A brace of eggs, with gammon and pineapple.'My main course arrived with another portion of salad but this time covering one third of the plate, at least someone in the kitchen had added some cut tomato prettily arranged around the salad, however just like before the salad was dry n bland. The 1st thing I noticed was that my brace of eggs was only one egg, and that egg looked dishevelled and tasted worse, I think it was old, just like the pineapple.I mean how can you get pineapple wrong, it was definitely old and tasteless. Then the lowlight my gammon, which was dry and not at all good, I felt sick when I walked away.I will say I have not been ill, my meal was last night. My pint was good. If you go for an ale, out of the pump, you won't be disappointed it was tasty.Served by staff who are friendly and polite, happy to help, but dont eat here even if it's free.
