We discovered this place when staying at the Travelodge next door. A lovely pub and restaurant.Great friendly atmosphere and good value tasty food. Really enjoyed and would certainly return when in the area. When ordering from the set menu the value was amazing!

Food was poor and not worth the costs. Scampi was frozen rubbish not home made.Place smelled really badOutside and inside dated.If it wasn't for the fact we were meeting family and had prebooked i wouldn't have even gone inside.

Food ok for the price. Menu said soup came with ciabatta bread - it didn't, it came with a very small slice of part baked baguette! Also, it would have been nice to have some salad with the burger and chips. Lastly, they couldn't serve tea/coffee at 9.30 because they'd closed down the coffee machine. Why so early when people are eating and a travel lodge next door! The service however was very good.

Definitely the worst experience on a Boxing day you could imagine! After arranging a meal for my wife, mother in law and brothers in law, previously booked several weeks ago and having pre ordered our meals for 2.45pm, we arrived a few minutes early and after a brief drink were pointed in the direction of our table. After sitting for approximately 45 minutes, one of our party of five asked a bar member if we could possibly be served soon? He was accused of being rude to this member of staff, which as I witnessed he was certainly not. After approximately another 20 minutes, another of our party went to enquire when we were likely to get service and was told before he'd even spoken that he was being filmed on CCTV, despite being impeccably polite and not aggressive in any way. During this time, not one member of staff came up to us to explain the delay, tables around us were left cluttered with dirty plates and glasses. Eventually one member of staff was kind enough to bring a bowl of water for the dog in our company, lucky her! We never even got cutlery! After approximately one and a half hours, we reluctantly went to the bar and cancelled our booking, asking for our deposit back, which the barman was most pleased to do( less stress I suppose?). Not once while we were were at the table, waiting for a family get together meal, were we approached by a member of staff. We finally left hungry and massively disappointed at the appalling lack of service and inattention to care that we received in this establishment. We will not be returning, and were most disappointed to see that a queue had formed at the bar prior to our leaving of other customers with complaints. Give this place a wide berth, apparently under new management (mismanagement?).

Probably the 15th or so year this group has been here for the festive menu. It is always good value for money, although the service and food quality has varied a bit. This year everthing was excellent, 1st class so will be back again next year

Disgusted to be contacted ONEHOUR before booked table time to say THEY CANCELLED our booking due to kitchen problems! Too late to find anywhere else as everywhere fully booked. I am more than UPSET! This isn't the first time this has happened over the last couple of months either. DONT RELY ON YOUR BOOKING BEING HONOURED!

It’s a Saturday, the week before Christmas and they have two staff working. We waited an hour for our food which was disgusting when it came. It’s overpriced and underwhelming. Will never return. It’s really gone downhill. Close it down if you can’t get the staff to run it.

Sunday Lunch luke warm, veg very hard, roasts really dry, rib of beef out of packet you can tel lots of fatty resedue. Would not recommend. Shame this place use to be good.

Came for lunch with the in-laws we all got cabs , when we got here there was no food. Asked if we could get a pizza delivered and they said no . Had to get another cab to eat somewhere else.

We arrived for our booking and the pub wasn’t. Open, when it finally opened we saw one member of staff who told us to “do what we like with the tables” it was my sons 3rd birthday which I noted in the booking and not even the tables were set up to accommodate our group of 8. We had family come from over an hour away. Then we were told that they might be able to take food orders by 11 so after this we left. There was no apology or explanation. Awful experience and we will not return.

From the start the service was disorganised Despite booking, no table was prepared in advance Ordered the 3 courses for 16.99 but got charged 18.99 when raised, it was explained that this was calculated in some confusing way, which is not explained in the menu despite it saying 16.99 in one place fixed and from 16.99 in another place, Waited 45 / hour for the starter Nachos cold/ breaded mushrooms cut in half (I am only surmising that this is to cut down on costs)and then deep fried to a hard batter. Roast arrived after another 45 minute wait. Veg was soggy and warm, gravy was brown tap water, roasts were minimal, no stuffing wrapped in bacon, no Yorkshire pudding, however we ate it as by this time we were starving and did not want o wait any longer to eat. Complained to the manager, who offered us a drink on the house, we declined as we had enough to drink , offered a dessert, which we already paid for, so he offered us a refund on drink and dessert which we accepted. Dessert came, cold custard and almost cold brownie and apple pie. I went to find the manager to get our refund and was informed that he was on a break by one staff member and that he had left from another, and he was the only one who could do the refund. After 30 minutes I went back to the bar and asked to speak to someone else, the chef then came and queried why we should be entitled to a refund if we had eaten and drank our drinks, at his point the manger came back and processed the refund, the attitude of the chef was appalling, he needs some re training in customer service. I felt for the waiting staff, as it was a catalogue of complaints from lots of customers who either did not get any food or the order was wrong. Maybe this was just a bad day for them, but from reading previous reviews I fear this is the norm now, as we had eaten there many times before with no issue.

We attend the biweekly pub quizzes and have a great time. The staff are all friendly and it has a great atmosphere.The only reason it's not higher is that the vegetarian options are somewhat limited.Vegetarian options: There are a large number if vegan options, however not a lot of variety in the options

Not bad! First visit tonight and pleasantly surprised. Very nice food and a great atmosphere. The most pub-like pub in the area.
