One of the best roast lunches I've had in ages. Tender meat, beautifully cooked and plenty of veg. Super service. ?

Excelent lunchtime experience!!!! Superb service and fabulous food. I rang in advance as I have food intolerance. They couldn't have been more helpful. I spoke to a very pleasant young man named Lewis,I gave a time and day for our visit and they had a great baked potato with prawns and dressings of my choice all ready for me! It was delicious. My hubby had a very large plate of potato skins to start with( he wished he hadn't) as he didn't eat all his fabulous fish and chips!! Our friend had blackpudding starter and a large gammon meal. All food was exceptional. As was the service. It was taken over 3 months ago, now an outstanding restaurant. Will definitely go back !!!!!!

Went with our badminton group for a Christmas lunch. Had excellent communication from Nicola beforehand. Our table was ready and the food was one’s the best I have had at Christmas. The portions were generous but were well presented and very tasty. We all agreed it was a great choice and there were no complaints about any of our three courses. The service was excellent and I would go again in a heartbeat as would the rest of the group. So well done and hope things continue for 2024

Popped in for a quick drink and the service was fast and friendly and can't complain with the price of drinks.

I’m in a walking group and 45 of us went here for our Christmas lunch. The new owners only took over a few months ago and so were an untried entity for us. There were no worries at all, made very welcome by all the staff, the food was so tasty, good size portions and value for money. They were approachable and happily provided gluten free meals for a couple of our walkers. The pub is ideal for those who like to have a walk, as it’s on the Derwent Walk, and like to have a meal, coffee or drink at the end.

Well, over 40 of us rocked up to the pub. We all received a warm welcome and the room was spacious but cosy. My three course Christmas lunch was top notch. A fantastic pate with lots of bread. A traditional Christmas turkey meal with of course a huge Yorkshire pudding. I was full but greed won. I ate a beautiful cheesecake to finish off. Well done to the Red Kite ???

My partner and I had the most amazing chicken and mushroom pie with seasonal vegetables and a lovely rich gravy. Traditional suet pie was yummy. For dessert my partner had the homemade sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream. It was devine! The staff were friendly and attentive. Really enjoying having our lovely local pub back, doing what it does best…..good quality food with friendly helpful staff.Thank you

The Kite has been taken over by new management and is just great! The food is delicious and well presented. Staff are so polite and helpful. The TV and pool table are gone so it won't please everyone but it's a lovely local pub for walkers, dog walkers, diners.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair access at front of pub. Disabled toilet.

A lovely welcome upon our arrival. ( There were 3 of us at this sitting ) We were shown to a lovely table in the dining room. We were immediately presented with menus and our drinks order taken. We were impressed with the ice bucket coming with the wine as we usually have to request this. We chose a steak dish, a chicken dish and a fish dish. They all were presented well and were absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef. It was warm and relaxing in the Red Kite and we found the staff very friendly and efficient. No complaints at all, and we will certainly return to sample their new menu in the near future. Ample parking and the toilet facilities we found immaculate. All in all a very enjoyable evening, which we also thought was good value for money. A great start for the new management team, long may it continue.

Very disappointed ☹️… been told by friends under new management and food is great. Tried to phone but number on website not connect. Checked if evening meal still available. Arrived just to be told no more despite website stated until 8.30pm Monday-Saturday … at least update the website first to avoid loosing new customers.

First visit here and definitely the last! Waited nearly an hour for food even though there were only a few tables in. Burger was quite tasteless with chips that tasted days old with coleslaw that looked even older. Sweet potato rosti was more like a mushed pattie which tasted awful. There was no apology or explanation as to why food took so long. The only good point - it’s dog friendly
