Gluten-free restaurants in Gateshead

“Haven’t been to a Pizza Express for a long, long time and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

We went for the £50 deal, which included 2 large pizzas, a dough balls platter and 2 sides. We paid £61 in total, but that included 2 Cokes and a £5 tip because the girl who served us was lovely. ?

Food was clearly freshly made and was delicious. Our server and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Also, for anyone wondering, apparently 70% of the tip goes to your server and the rest goes to the other staff, which I thought was good to know.

I only had a few little gripes.

Firstly, the drinks preparation area was directly behind us. It’s quite off-putting when you’re trying to eat and have a conversation with all the activity going on behind you.

Secondly, when paying, can the server please just give you the receipt and ask “cash or card?” rather than handing you the receipt and disappearing quicker than someone who messages you on Facebook Marketplace when you ask if something is still available. ?

And lastly, they don’t do mayonnaise, which is fine, but we weren’t really given any choice of other condiments. It was basically just “we don’t do mayonnaise” and that was it. Would be nice to know what other sauces/condiments are available, if any.

“While visiting the Metrocentre food court, we stopped at Zizzi for dinner since my daughter is a huge pizza fan.

They have a fantastic menu with plenty of variety beyond pizza, and everything tasted delicious.

We loved it so much that we ate there twice during our 4-night trip.

Highly recommended and will definitely visit again!”
