Ordered fish and chips for main and chocolate fudge cake for dessert. I was happy with the fish and chips and the tartar sauce was really lovely. Unfortunately the dessert was quite subpar despite its lovely presentation, it was very dry and had a weird taste not like chocolate fudge. My partner also had the sticky toffee pudding and it was the same, very dry, off tasting and clearly microwaved. I would probably steer clear of the desserts if I visited again, however the triple cooked chips were divine. I’d be interested in trying the Parmo next time. Atmosphere was lovely, such a big plot of land, plenty seats outside and in, staff were lovely and place was nice and clean inside and out.

I have been coming into the green giro the last year, it is in fact our local and my partner (and some of his family) come in very regularly up until recently it has always been fine , however over the last 4 months it has started to slide. This is probably due to the fact that managerial staff keep disappearing and the bar staff and waiting staff just seem to do their own thing!!!! The young staff seem to be more in charge than the managerial staff. The staff should all be wearing the same clothing g when in fact they are not and should have long sleeves so they do not burn themselves on hot food, but they should NOt be wearing hoodies and look like they have just come in from the cold, they should not be disparaging g about other staff in the full view of customers (present or past) they are there to represent the pub itself and should do so.However, they are clearly NOT being trained in the correct way, some of them do not know how to open a Prosecco bottle not a wine with a cork in it.The tables are constantly sticky (not the fault of young staff) simply because they are being given the wrong tools and the inadequate trainiing, customers should be advised by staff that children should be seated when they are delivering hot food and the staff should be given carriers for the dirty glasses and NOT be carrying them in a way that is against Health and Safety.During Mothers Day it was chaotic and there was only 1 senior staff on I had to go and seek that last out and inform her one toilet was locked as it was out of order and another had been blocked so I advised her to open the disabled toilets which was locked. All these issues can be sorted and the staff trained correctly by having a GOOD Manager in place so PLEASE employ someone who has had all the relevant experience and not simply the least expensive route. You are asking these young people to do a difficult job at least TRAIN them for the situation and stop letting them gossip and shirk when the opportunity arises

Nice place plenty of free parking, well stocked bar and the staff are polite and professional but sometimes lack motivation and would rather flim flam about in little groups than serve customers. The bar is dog friendly if you like dogs but not as clicky as the customers I wouldn't drink in there, the lounge is much more sophisticated plenty of tables and places to sit. Now the bit I don't understand, they fitted loads of screens in the lounge area and have a drinks promotion on when football is shown on TV however if you're sitting in the lounge you have to order your drinks in the bar.... ? Strangest rule ever. There is a large outdoor area with plenty of tables and chairs but if the sun's out be quick as it's very popular. I can't comment on the food but it looks nice but a bit pricey. Overall I would recommend this place but could be so much better.

Absolute disgrace of an establishment, Incompetent staff that made a complete balls up of a party booking of 20 people. Manager unable to resolve and an area manager that has no customer relation skills whatsoever, totally lacks in empathy and hides behind lower tier management, avoiding speaking to me in person. We have been frequent visitors for many years, in fact way back since it was Dixielanders. Our issue could have been very easily resolved today but management chose not to, bearing in mind it was their error in the first instance.Needless to say our ongoing custom has now ended and also that of family and friends, in fact The Green has lost the custom of around 40 people today.Looking at reviews on Trip Advisor there are many more that also wouldn't return. This place is clearly on a slippery slope and going to the dogs and it will continue to do so with the lack of customer service skills of the current middle management.Thinking about going here?I strongly recommend you give it a miss!Show less

Breaking up for Christmas we decided to go the the Green for a drink as it was a central place for a lot of the staff to meet. The Green is a big smart restaurant/ bar and staff were good, prices were okay and it was nice and relaxing.

We haven’t been for a few months and we’re delighted with the quality of the food and presentation, the price point was just right . All the staff were extremely friendly we had a great visit

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Quickly seated by the friendly staff to a table for two. We were offered 3 menus - regular / Sunday lunch / festive special. We were advised that the chef recommended the turkey on the festive menu. We both ordered the Turkey dinner. The description said it came with buttery mash, roast potatoes, cranberry stuffing, pigs in blankets, pancetta cooked sprouts. vegetables and gravy. The food was NOT good at all. There was no seasoning on anything. The Turkey was dry and looked like a roasting joint you would buy at a supermarket. The gravy was watery and lacking in any flavour. The stuffing had no flavour of cranberry. The carrots were hard and terribly undercooked. The sprouts were undercooked and had not been cooked with pancetta - there were some pancetta pieces thrown over the top to make it look like they had. The mash was flavourless and had no ‘buttery’ taste. The roast potato’s were very crisp but again lacked any seasoning or flavour. The green veg was ok but needed seasoning. The worst thing on the plate was the pigs in blankets which looked terribly undercooked. The bacon fat was still white and looked raw. I was so disappointed. The staff were very friendly and offered to ask for the undercooked food to be replaced but unfortunately when it came back it was much the same and we didn’t want have to ask for it to be replaced again. 2 meals and 2 soft drinks came to £38. We both left most of the food and we weren’t offered any discounts. Won’t be rushing back any time soon

Booked to come for a Sunday dinner here. Ordered the chicken breast but chicken thigh arrived. Complained to the servers but were little help. Tried to telephone later with no answer. Then emailed them complaining but again didn’t reply. Wouldn’t go again as wasn’t cheap either for chicken thigh.

First visit for many years. Food was a great improvement on our last visit. Portion size good, quality of food good at a reasonable price. Atmosphere was a bit dead but it was a Monday evening.
