Fabulous evening of Jazz, so many talented people. I highly recommend the jazz jam on the first and third Tuesday of the month

It puts on good shows, and the drinks are cheap. Chairs are uncomfortable tho

Part of arts centre. Quirky and interesting space. Mainly bottled beers for ale drinkers.

Rob Patrick

Cosy, atmospheric and eclectic downstairs bar in Newbattle Arts Centre, next to their performance space.

A wet Thursday evening visit to see a jazz band is probably not the best introduction to a new venue, however, it was well appointed, nicely decorated, sound and lighting was good, staff were friendly. It lacked atmosphere in my opinion but that was probably down to the weather, which affected the size of the audience.

Jazz evening, excellent band, Hot Club du Nord, in nice cafe style performance area. Decent bar and friendly staff. The Black Swan is set in a fascinating courtyard next to the Tyne Theatre. Well worth a visit.

Booked the black swan for my wife's birthday party and Kay and her team could not have been more helpful. It's a beautiful venue and I Would highly recommend to others.

Lovely venue but stairs with no handrails is a bit difficult.

I often attend the Black Swan for its fortnightly free Jazz Cafe evenings to listen to the live music performed by the house trio and others. A fantastic performance space with lovely and helpfull staff. Drinks are a little on the pricey side but nothing to complain about as it helps to support local artists and the help that the Newcastle Arts Centre provides throughout the city.
