The Point & its staff are top class ! I have been able to bring my established business of 12 years to this venue with ease and confidence. The self contained venue makes for a spectacular event or special occasion. I have found the venue to be clean, professionally ran, offering tasty food & with the customers at the heart of everything they do. I have held two busy events post covid at the point and the team (especially Andrew) have gone above & beyond for my business. I would highly recommend.

A brilliant place. I went because they have begun running comedy nights. It was sold out with 200+ people. However, they run loads of events - club nights, boxing, DJ’s and live music. A really brilliant venue with lots going on. All the staff are friendly and helpful and it’s definitely a “must see” for anyone in Sunderland.

Popped in for lunch with the son who is studying in Newcastle. Really nice food, attentive service and good crowd inside. Their cakes really finish you off!

An amazing venue, with a large selection of events, drinks, and honestly some amazing shows. The reason I only choose to give 2 stars though, is a variety of shortcomings that diminish the overall quality of this place.1) Drinks are ridiculously expensive. In fact, any establishment within the same group price their drinks very high, such as Ttonic being another example. The Point takes advantage of the fact customers are there for events, and uses this to price their drinks whatever they wish. I've lived in Sunderland for 4 month, and I've seen this price increase multiple times. They have a cocktail menu, but cocktails have never been on whenever I've been there. And finally, if you order something like I Hotdog, it's gonna set you back £4 for the tiniest hotdog in a wet soggy bun.2) The establishment allows people to stand in the bathroom and sell soap and deodorant and other toiletries. I've honestly never felt more uncomfortable in my life, walking into a bathroom only to have some random guy stare at me the whole time, trying to convince me to buy soap, and then try and wash my hands for me. Makes me feel sick.3) One of the men's restrooms has no stalls? It's such a weird premise. Firstly, imagine the horror of being a trans male, and walking into a bathroom only to find no stalls? Secondly, imagine being a cis male, and running to the toilets, only to find no stalls when you need one. So strange.4) Staff are required to work overtime. Of course they're paid for it, but it can be a huge problem for them, due to the fact most shifts finish 2am in the morning, and a lot of staff are young females. They'll be scheduled to work until 11pm, but will be required to stay until everything is tidy, with no frame of reference as to when that will be, meaning they can't even ask someone to meet them after their shift. This means it's difficult for them to organise travel home, leaving them stood outside in the cold waiting for a taxi, or having to walk through the dark city centre on a Friday or Saturday evening alone. They're paid for their extra time, but this sort of scheduling has no consideration for the employees wellbeing. Imagine being scheduled to finish at 11pm, and being told you're unable to leave when it hits that time. You HAVE to stay. If you've ordered a taxi for 11, well it's tough.5) They literally do barely anything about drugs being wildly present at their rave and club events. Nearly everyone coming through those doors has pills or powder of some kind in their socks or pockets, and everyone at those events is high as a kite. But they do the bare minimum to combat this. It's such a shame, because The Point has so many amazing events, such a brilliant community. So many amazing and lovely staff members, and even frequently partner with Sunderland College go provide academic facilities for the Music Department, letting them put on events. They still have some great deals on some canned and bottled drinks when bought in bulk. But there's just too much wrong to warrant a good review.

Fantastic experience. Came specifically to see the band playing who were brilliant. The door staff were courteous, polite and respectful and the bar staff were beyond helpful especially when a barrel was being changed and they recommended alternative drinks. Cannot recommend highly enough and can't wait to visit again.
