You would never know it's there as it hides in a little lane off Raby Mere Rd. But it's well worth finding. It's a lovely old thatched house that was built in 1611 according to the brick over the doorway. The interior looks very original and can't have changed much since it was built. There's a big old fireplace that's great in the Winter. Good selection of beers and real ales. Service was very good and quick.

I called here yesterday with my friend for lunch. Staff were very helpful however I was very disappointed with my meal. I ordered roast chicken skinny fries and coleslaw. I asked if I could have mashed potato instead and advised this would be no problem. When my meal arrived it need gravy which I asked for, this meal cost £13.50 ish or do I thought . I settled the bill after payment I realised I’d been charged £2.90 for gravy !! Disappointing not sure I would go again for this type of food as it was quite expensive for what I got.

Food and choice is excellent however a 10% service charge is added. Personally I don't think this is the correct approach. Most places ask if you would like to add a tip which means the value of that tip is your choice.

Accidentally found ourselves nipping into the Wheatsheaf whilst out on a walk. We were so taken with the village and the beautiful pub we thought we’d try lunch there. So cosy inside and full of interest. Lots of little nooks and corners. We received a warm smiley welcome and decided to take a table in the restaurant. We ordered 2 fish finger sandwiches with skinny fries. It was delicious!! We were so comfortable and warmed with the food, we could’ve stayed all day. The batter was the lightest ever! So happy we had so a lovely unexpected visit. Will definitely visit again very soon. Thank you ?

Popped in for Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed. We had the roast beef and the nut roast and both were fabulous. Service is fantastic - such lovely hard working staff, We will definitely return. Thank you so much for an enjoyable Sunday afternoon

Lovely pub in a fabulous calm location. The tidiest, cleanest pub I've ever been in, and I grew up in pubs. Lime and soda for me, divine, best quality lime I've had on a very very long time. Keep being successful,

Lovely dining space in the cowshed but wasn't impressed at all with the quality or effort that went into the Sunday roasts.Beef was mostly fat and turkey served without usual trimmings. Also got overcharged by about a tenner.

Staff as ever were lovely however food ordered by the group was tepid. One person in the group asked for her food to be heated up. Staff responded so well and apologised and rectified. However we felt uncomfortable complaining about other items also being tepid in temperature.
