Being locals, we often stop here for a coffee/lunch break and have also enjoyed several evenings here. Last weekend we hired it for a family event (17 of us ranging from toddlers to pensioners) at which we enjoyed afternoon tea with glasses of bubbly. What can I say? It surpassed our expectations. The food was amazing and the vegetarians and vegans in our group were catered for exceptionally well. The sea views are truly amazing here - even on a wet and windy March afternoon. This is a lovely venue; we appreciated the fresh flowers on the tables and the bunting which they had kindly agreed to put up. However the outstanding feature without doubt, is the staff - from the booking process with Elena to the amazing Jane and Jeannie who treated us like royalty on the day - nothing was too much trouble - it was a first class experience that we will always remember with great fondness. Thank you all - including the staff whose names I don’t know who also helped out on the day. Highly recommend this fabulous venue. Thank you all from all of us!Kid-friendliness: Lovely afternoon tea option provided for my three year—old granddaughter. The staff were really kind and welcoming to our two grandchildren.

Afternoon tea was extremely underwealming, looks like a big portion and value for money when it's served up on the wooden platter but couldn't attend due to being ill so had my colleagues deliver my serving in a box.4 triangles consisting of cheese, cucumber, ham and packet chicken, effectively one sandwich cut into 4 quarters, a small carrot cake, a small chock late, a miniature mince pie and a scone with a small cream and mini jam.I paid £27.50 and will not be returning. Using the Island and location to bump the prices.

We stopped in for the pancakes and weren't disappointed, they were brilliant! Made by hand, they were just right. The Lavazza coffee was also good.Situated on Barry promenade, Bay 5 is small but has excellent views and I found it to be very relaxing to eat, drink coffee and enjoy the views over the Bristol Channel.

A lovely little spot on the prom with great sea views and perfect to shelter from the wind if you’re lucky enough to get a seat insideWe visited Barry at the end of July and enjoyed breakfast here. The staff were brilliant and very accommodating when we asked of a variation to the set toppings and I loved the syrup on the sideA perfect Sunday treat

Barry Pride Festival and you meet the most unwelcoming waitress who shuns you away with a vulgar attitude. I was given a takeaway cup, for my coffee and as it was windy decided to sit on one of the three empty table spaces when an incredibly rude waitress told us if we have takeaway cups please leave the table. Now there is a manner in which to speak with people.I for one will NEVER recommend nor visit this coffee shop again.I certainly wish I could leave 0 star review!
