Probably one of Bridgends best proper pubs. No

Visited here a lot before it was O'Neils(original Kings Head) as it was my work local, not the same as was, but all the other drinkers seemed to be enjoying the pub. I will add it was the best pint of John Smiths I've had in a long time.

Tried to attend a retirement party in the early evening with my kids. Website says kids welcome until 9.30pm. Got thrown out like thugs, told the pub was violent and a fight could break out at any moment. Kept telling us kids weren't allowed as they weren't serving food, but refused to show us the premises licence. I was polite throughout, despite bouncers and manager being rude. No apologies, no compromise, just confrontation. Told us the kids could stay at their discretion, but they were turning us away as the pub was so violent. Not sure I believe them, but also not sure anyone would want to go there. Very disappointed. Missed the party and kids were left shell shocked. Ended up in a pub just round the corner who welcome kids and don't have to boast about violence.

Went to attend a retirement party with my family. Bouncers told us we had to leave even though their website said it was a family friendly place on the website. Manager backed up the bouncers and told us it was a violent and aggressive bar and a fight could break out any minute. She backed this up by saying a fight broke out in 2 seconds 2 weeks ago with 12 people being seriously hurt and she was aware it would likely happen again soon

We went to this pub intending to have drinks at a retirement party and we were refused because we had kids with us. Their website ensured that children were allowed in the pub until 9pm, we arrived at 7:30pm. We then asked to see the premises license and they refused, premises licenses should be presented publicly at any pub or restaurant. They then shared that a fight could start at any point implying that it is an unsafe and anti-social pub, they said that their pub was an unsafe place to be with children and families. Would not recommend with any atom of my being.

A traditional pub serving "pub grub" which looks lovely. The real ale is exceptional good - consistently. I paid £ 3.15 for a beautiful pint of 4.6% proof local beer today, and the beer is always top notch.
Great atmosphere. Good beers.
