Beautiful food The curry’s were outstanding. But my naan bread was like a supermarket naan cut in half very dry and tasteless. Not what I expected from an outstanding takeout .

Used to be great but going downhill. Priced seems to always be increasing, had a watery curry today, plain biryani (pilau rice and some chicken) and stale poppadoms. Rang to complain about a dish and the person who answered was ridiculously argumentative. Apparently never had any complaints before but seem to be a few here ? Last visit for us I'm afraid.

£12 for a main, without rice or bread that you have to cook yourself. I just don't get it. I spent £40 on naans, two mains, some rice (cauliflower and pilau). The shop is lovely, the staff similar, the packaging great but the food isn't anything special and massively overpriced. It's not often I stop eating out of choice and just didn't want to eat this food. Great for my waist, not great for my wallet. The rice and bread are just horrible. The mains had good amount of meat, but the sauces were boring. I love Indian food, but this is just over priced for what it is.I'd rather save money and have a supermarket cook your self (which whilst not containing as much meat, has far better naan and rice) and if willing to shell out £40 (20pp) why wouldn't I order a takeaway which is bar far the nicest option and its delivered to my door.Overpriced, overhyped. I shall not be returning.

Just had our 1st takeaway experience at Penarth Gateway of India. A lamb dish and a chicken biryani. Lots of big pieces of chicken and lamb, tasty meals and very filling. Could have shared either meal, will know next time. Will definitely be paying more visits. It was from their chilled section and it was like homemade curries. ??

Don’t get it. Picked up some hugely overpriced cold curry to heat up at home. Staff took it ‘out the back’ for 10 minutes to package up for us to take home. Which, for all we could tell, was putting the boxes into a paper bag. What took 10 minutes? Cost us £40. Got home, heated it up and it’s probably the most disappointing curry I’ve ever eaten. Very confused as to the popularity.

We live locally and find ourselves often getting a curry from Gateway of India. The selection is varied, but the premise of being able to simply heat the food when home works well for us. We particularly enjoy getting a selection of curries for parties etc. Top quality food, fair price and convenient.

after wanting to try this spot for many years and hearing great things, i’m happy to say i was blown away. top notch food, one of the best lamb curries i’ve ever had (lamb dopiaza) and the service was amazing; i was impressed to see that the staff had chucked in some chicken lentil pakoras, veg samosas, mint sauce and mango chutney for free. food was ready to collect in 8 minutes which i can’t fault. overall would absolutely recommend to others looking for something different than their usual indian. will be back soon, can’t wait!

We always get the non-vegetarian Thali which is perfect for a family of three. Without fail the food is always amazing and staff are always happy and helpful. Highly recommend.

Ordered a non vegetarian Thalis by phone and as we don’t like lamb asked if this could be substituted with a chicken balti, 35 pence more. When I went to collect they added £2 to the bill for doing this. Did not advise of this on the phone. Told him politely to shove the order and went to the Indian Gate in Whitchurch, excellent curries and very friendly. My new local takeaway now.
