I'm always told if you find Chinese people eating at a Chinese restaurant then the food is authentic. The food here is lovely- hot, fresh and tasty. We tried the mixed appetisers and duck and a few dishes with rice. The potions are very generous.Everything we ate was lovely. The service was good and the atmosphere was ok too.

The food itself tasted good. However there were much issues with the communication between the floor and kitchen. Two out of the four dishes we ordered arrived incorrect, Sichuan Dry Fried String Beans (干煸四季豆) came without the mince meat as described in the menu, Pi Pa Tofu turned into a completely different dish.We raised the issues with the staff, to their credit they acknowledged the issue and sent the food straight back to the kitchen, but the new dishes didn't come for another good 30 minutes, which at that time we couldn't enjoy the food as much since we've already finished the other two dishes.

All the food I had was very tasty. I only recommend to people that have patience because Chinese food does not always turn up same time like a British restaurant. Other than that my family love their hot jasmine tea, it make us feel like we are home. Staff are very politely and treat us like family. We will for sure go back there again.Vegetarian options: Lots options for vegetariansParking: Lots of parking space right outside as it’s by retail park.

We attended on a saturday as a family and to take our son to his first chinese restaurant. We noticed the 1 star food hygiene rating on the way and thought - maybe they did something wrong on the day of the inspection. We ordered a few dishes to my son a good idea of what Chinese food in the UK is like. Well - we ordered duck, king prawn, shredded beef cantonese style, various rices and some veg and a few dishes. What came back was basically some sort of meat in lots of sugary gloopy sauces. It didnt seem fresh in the slightest. The biggestest disappointment was the cantonese shredded beef. We already asked if this was the crispy beef and she said yes (but she couldnt speak much english). What cam back was some sort of re constituted big slices of beef - but it didnt look or have the texture of beef (boil in the bag at best). We did quesry this ans was told told this is how they do it. Maybe I ordered incorrectly. For 2 adults and child - it came to over £90 - and only tap water as drinks. Think very carefully before going - we wont be going again. I did suggest next time we go to the Riverside - but my son - next time we will go somewhere where you can tell it's just been cooked fresh - rather being under a load of sugary sauce. Would have loved to love this place - but also the smell of cigarette smoke drifting upstairs and the Karioke machine room in the place getting louder - we wont be back,

There are only two chinese restaurants in Cardiff that serve dim sum, the other is Happy Gathering.Good World is the better of the two, it has cleaner modern surroundings and generally easier to park outside and nearby. The prices are slightly higher but offer much better value and quality of the food is good. For example, the two roast meat and rice dish priced around £14.00 is a few quid more than Happy Gathering but you get double the portion of meat here. Service is acceptable.Food Standards Rating 3/5.Parking: Restaurant located in retail park, ample spaces normally available.

I don’t usually take time to make reviews but after this evening’s experience, I felt compelled to wave a big red flag over this place. DO NOT COME HERE !We drove from London to celebrate Chinese New Year with the family and was really looking forward to having a delicious CNY dinner together. (We were a big group so booked 3 tables). We had even pre-ordered, as requested by management as they obviously foresaw it would be a very busy service.Disappointingly, when we arrived at 7pm for our allocated slot, our table was not ready and was not ready until 30 minutes or so later. When we were finally seated, we had to chase twice for our drinks order - which was simply a pot of jasmine tea, jug of water, J20 and a beer. Nothing too complicated!I wish I could say things improved but sadly our evening got worse. While 1 of 3 of our tables received all their food (albeit they had to return one dish as there was a long black hair in it!), two of our tables were going hungry.I noted a table who came in after us were getting their food before us so the kitchen was obviously erratic and disorganised!.Meanwhile there was a growing queue of impatient diners waiting for their reserved tables, and at one point I heard the manager tell a table to leave so the table could be released!Back to us though…We chased on several occasions for our order but after 1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting, the hungriness turned to ‘hangriness’.We ended up leaving and eating at McDonald’s as it was getting too late to find an alternative last minute venue. What a disappointing CNY dinner ruined by the greediness of management who had obviously over booked themselves. If they had not squeezed in diners over such a short period of time, and had not relied on a skeleton crew of service staff, they would have coped and won over a big group of loyal customers.Rest assured, we will not be visiting again and cannot recommend.

Absolutely perfect lunch! Dim sum was amazing and the sizzling beef with ginger and onion is a must have! Thank you for the food.

The new best in town! There are only 3 noteworthy Chinese in town, namely, happy gathering, riverside and this new baby. The place is not entirely new, the previous restaurant was named "dragon court" if my memories served me right but now changed to Good World. In my opinion, this place is authentic mainlain chinese cuisine compared to the like of happy gathering which is more cantones (hongkong, maylasia or Guangdong inspired). Why is mainlain chinese cuisine any different from cantonese you may ask? For south east asian palate, it is certainly more suitable/tasty

What a great suprise ! I had read a a good review of this restaurant by a local food critic and thought I’d try here . Normally go to the riverside or summertime place in Llandaff - I’ve passed this place for years without even realising it was there as it’s above the casino in the retail park and barely noticeable. Was instantly impressed with the decor and how busy it was - it was Sunday lunch and nearly all of the tables were full - mostly with Asian families having lunch which no took to be a good sign . Excellent choice of either dim sum menu or normal menu and so may dishes on the normal one that i had not seen before . Food was excellent - was served by Diane who was incredibly helpful and attentive and then her Iranian colleague who’s name I didn’t catch but he was fantastic- in fact all staff were from the moment we were greeted to our departure . Previous reviews on here were not that good so I was a little concerned about it - but couldn’t have had a better meal and experience . Given the ease of parking and the opening times - in addition to the great food - this will be out new go-to Chinese restaurant. Try it - so glad I did !

We have visited 3 times since being recommended by. Chinese lady we met in an Italian restaurant !!! Having lived in Cardiff for 7 years we have at long last found a Chinese restaurant that is superb in terms of quality, service and ambience. The give away is that there are always Chinese families earning there. Parking is so easy as well. What can’t you like ?

Really tasty food. Went with my Chinese brother in law and he was pleased with the variety. We had mainly dim sum which was great and I had crispy noodles with king prawns and vegetables. Will definitely be my go to place for a Chinese meal. Nice airy atmosphere and great friendly service. Spotlessly clean toilets too.Access is up two flights of stairs and there is no lift.Plenty of parking outside as it's located in a large retail park.
