We had 3 cocktails each.My partner chose mostly whisky based cocktails and loved them. Chocolate whiskey limited edition, critical mass and point nemo.I chose a mixture.The gin and t twist menu item called life finds a way was nice - I recommend it only if you really like cantaloupe melon as it's a star flavour in the cocktail. Least favourite of mine of the night.My absolute favourite was the buckfast die young. I've never had a cocktail like this but I loved it. It's unique in its flavour : like an espresso martini but different.Lastly I asked the server for another unique drink maybe gin based and something continued to be experimental. They suggested a millionaire: gin and apricot liqueur. It was fantastic.Definitely recommend this cocktail bar. Lovely service. Great drinks.Make a reservation or it'll be hard to get in

Went here as a last minute thing for my friend’s 22nd birthday on a Moonshine Monday. Was honestly such a good night & experience. Massive props to Dylan who was so attentive & helpful even when it was very busy. Made the night 10x better if that was possible. All staff are great & atmosphere is so light and welcoming. Concept is so cool. Drinks are stunning & very reasonable. Bartenders are great. :)

Visited on a Saturday expecting a nice relaxing atmosphere with great cocktails. Unfortunately, we were unaware that the place becomes a rowdy, very loud sports bar with a clubby environment. The music was too loud, everyone was shouting and it was a far cry from what I would call a typical speakeasy. The waitress apologised and assured us that it wasn't usually like this, but the fact TVs are in the bar in the first place makes it a Sports bar/cocktail place, jazz venue some nights and club on others too. Cocktails were ok for the price and it's good if you're looking for a loud, party vibe with cocktails. I would choose somewhere else for a date night with the girlfriend or wife. We found somewhere else in Cardiff and it was much more up our street. Personally, it feels like lab 22 is trying to do a bit too much of everything, rather than focusing on the cocktail experience.Upped rating to a 3/5 as lab 22 got back to me straight away and offered a drink on the house if we give them another try. We'll give it another try, but sometimes a place is just not for you and music too loud is a deal breaker as the wife and I like to spend the time enjoying the cocktail journey and connecting. Thank you Lab 22 for getting back to us so quickly and caring x

We absolutely love Lab 22, and were thrilled to come back when we visited Cardiff again over the past weekend. Fantastic atmosphere, cosy, warm and welcoming. The menu was explained in detail and the cocktails were just phenomenal! Our waitress, Hollie, was just amazing, and she ensured our experience was nothing short of perfection! Thank you so much - she is an absolute delight.
