Afternoon tea for four. Lovely building adjacent to Cardiff castle. Lovely friendly and polite young lady served us, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made suggestions as two of the party are vegan.Nice pot of tea in real China followed by delicious freshly made sandwiches and a warm scone ( not microwaved)Highly recomended..Dietary restrictions: Very nice vegan selection

This place is such a scam. We booked afternoon tea for 10 people and we've got two trays to share between all of us. Usually afternoon tea allows everyone to try each of every item and we didn't had this opportunity. For £25 pp this is ridiculous.Place was also incredibly cold, had to sit in jackets.

Amazing afternoon tea with a beautiful view on Bute Park. Delicious sandwiches (veggie and meat) and good selection of tea. The tearooms are cosy and the staff are friendly.

We went in for tea, coffee and cake. Lovely selection of cakes but at the time no gluten free ones. The Assam tea was really good, made with proper tea and a strainer! Staff were friendly and service was very quick.

Coffee was fine, service was friendly, Welsh cakes were like a brick, stale and burnt.

Well managed and organized despite the small area. Crème brûlée croissant ? is a favorite.

Very disappointed with afternoon tea today, gluten free option was dismal despite giving plenty of notice and definitely not worth the money and service was below par to say the least….. management need to review both food options and staff training otherwise they are going to lose lots of previously loyal customers ..

We’ve been regulars at Pettigrews for many years. We went on 2nd Jan 2024 to find it’s all changed! From a quaint, atypical tearoom in a beautiful restored gatehouse to only what I can describe as a trimmed back, reduced menu, not- a-typical- tearoom establishment. I don’t like it at all. Its quaintness and uniqueness has gone. Focus seems to be on the bookable afternoon teas, and away from the daily drop in customers. Still the same lovely staff. But its heart has gone. So sad. We actually walked out. First time in over ten years plus of it being a regular haunt.

Called in to this delightful tearoom for lunch following a visit to Cardiff Castle. It was a bitterly cold day so the delicious homemade leek and potato soup was just what we needed. Coffee was very good. Pity we didn't have room for dessert as the cakes looked incredible. We'll try those next time

This place is so cute! Like a mini castle. The scones.. marvellous! The tea, well I didn't actually have tea but I bet it's the real deal. I had coffee and some scones (I know.. I know) I'll be back though. It's a small tea room with extra seating upstairs, all very relaxing. Definitely worth a visit.

Booked for my sisters 30th. We had a lovely afternoon. Staff delightful and food stunning. I then booked in December but didn’t make it due to Grandmothers passing. Staff again were so lovely and refunded my deposit. Perfect location, fab food, LOVELY staff. Can’t wait to return in new

The lady was lovely and the food came at a decent price. Grab a sandwich or two here and you won’t be disappointed!
