Plenty of parking, very homely dinning rooms with well sized tables. The service was fast, along with great warming food. Hand made bread to start along with 3 courses after as seen in the pictures. We all left feeling really full. Would highly recommended this place.

Joined for the restaurant only:Fantastic! My partner and I joined for our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The service was excellent and we felt particularly welcome from each staff member we interacted with. Food was lovely, having a starter and main each, the plates were left empty and our bellies were full. Highly recommend if you’re in the area (and if not then go anyway).

Went for our wedding anniversary dinner here and had a very lovely evening! The food was great, very cosy atmosphere and staff were very friendly. Service was quick and we had some complimentary bubbly which was a very thoughtful touch. Definitely recommend this place!

Stopped here for lunch on our way down south. So good we returned on our way back a week later. Cosy traditional inn with a romantic restaurant adorned with fresh flowers and local art. This lovely inn is ideal if you're just after a quick coffee or drink or even go the whole hog and enjoy the full works! Very professional and attentive staff. Thank you for an enjoyable experience.Food & drinks: Delicious good quality fine dining food. Good value set menu lunch times.

A wonderful gastro pub set perfectly between Brecon, Hay on Wye and onward to Hereford. The food was exceptional, the staff so attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights away, so much so we can't wait to go back.

Amazing all round. Came for an anniversary dinner with my partner, and was able to bring the dog! They sat us in a corner perfect so the pup was undisturbed. I’m gluten free and basically everything on the menu was gluten free or adaptable. It was INCREDIBLE. One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Service was perfect and the wine was also fantastic!

Wow, what can I say!?.... Everything was absolutely stunning, the food was just perfect, and the service was so lovely. The atmosphere in there was truly relaxing, everyone was so friendly and warm, even the diners were all chatting to each other about what they had chosen for supper.... it was all good, absolutely no complaints ?Food & drinks: Nothing but high quality ?

The food was absolutley delicious - we had the IOW tomatoes, cod, the crab and the hake, accompanied by delicious wine recommended by our lovely waitress. If you are staying in the area, don't hesitate to book for a meal. Great value for money as well.

We stayed for 2 nights dinner bed and breakfast. We also took our Cocker Spaniel with us and he was made to feel very welcome in our room and the restaurant. The room was very comfy and even had covers on the seat for our dog, it was very warm but we were staying on the hottest weekend of the year. It was a great base for exploring and walking in the Brecon Beacons. The highlight however was the food, it was some of the best food we have ever tasted and the side dishes fri the kitchen garden were wonderful, my wife is still talking about the tomato salad we shared with our Hake and Louise’s Cauliflower based vegetarian main. The other evening we had the steak and the cod loin again perfect. The beer and wine were also really good and a great selection. We will definitely be back.

On the strength of a Daily Telegraph review of The Griffin we booked back in March for a stay on their special deal for September. Two nights in a comfortable room with three course dinner each night. We were not disappointed. They have an excellent creative chef with daily tweaks to the menu on offer. We couldn't fault the food on either night, although on the second night the portions defeated us leaving no room to test the sweets. Beds comfortable but the hotel is on a main road, and even with a room at the back it is noisy. The rooms are well equipped and most comfortable. The staff were most welcoming and made every effort to please. The wine list is well marked up but there are some cheaper options to try. One tip - check your bills. We were overcharged £140 - partly picked up by me before paying but the other amount was picked up very quickly when the person responsible for accounts checked in later in the morning. An email of apology was waiting on our return that lunchtime. All sorted the same day - but we finished up with items from other guests charged to our bill. It was hard on the person trying to serve breakfasts and deal with accounts - perhaps someone needs to be on duty a little earlier to deal with guest accounts so this doesn't happen again. This small matter won't prevent us from visiting the Griffin again - if just for a wonderful well presented and tasty evening meal.
