We got here at about 6.30pm and most tables were empty. The woman at the door let us know the place was fully booked. I then asked if we could get a takeaway and was told no. Asked for any other local recommendations as we were tourists and wasn't given a single one. Shockingly poor service!

Stunning setting, even on a rainy day. We didn’t eat, just sat by the roaring fire playing pool and waiting for the skies to clear.

Lovely country pub, very cosy, food lovely, particularly enjoyed the home cooked chips. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. It is not a particularly big menu, but there is ample choice and to suit all requirements, nice selection of vegetarian/vegan food. The views across the river Dee to the Wirral are simply stunning and definitely enhance the dining experience. Highly recommended.
