The service from the manager received by another member of our party who had allergies was rude and unhelpful. Despite the customer calling ahead and being reassured there would be suitable options on the day this was not the case. Eventually after several back and forwards between them they were informed someone from the kitchen could either go to a shop to get an alternative, the chef could make a special reduction, but that this option would mean the table having to wait even longer for the mains. They never received an apology despite having called ahead twice before the meal. The allergen book was also wrong. This was their birthday meal and meant to be a nice lunch out with friends. For myself my roast was mediocre at most. The chipolata was laughable it was the size of a malteaser, no stuffing (with turkey) 1 carrot 3 potatoes that tasted like they had been left over from a few days before. The cauliflower cheese tasted nice but for 4 pounds I would have expected slightly more. Yorkshire was dark brown in colour and the Gravy had no taste. Prawn cocktail for starter was lovely though so wasn't all doom and gloom. When comparing to other roasts in the newport and surrounding areas there are other venues with far better options, quality and taste wise. Our server was really pleasant and polite shame it was already ruined by the managers attitude.

Where to even begin. Despite phoning ahead twice to specify that I could neither eat dairy nor soy and being assured the vegetarian gravy was soy free upon arrival I was told that the gravy was soy free in time of booking and wasn't soy free today. They weren't doing the nut roast either so my choices were very limited. It was pointed out to me several times by the manager how inconvenient my situation was and I was asked "do you just want a dry dinner" and also informed that someone can "just go down the shop and see what they have"We made it to pudding where I asked whether the vegan puddings had soy in. We checked the allergen book that said no, so I ordered, only to be told that they'd "checked the box" and they had soy in. Good to know the allergen book was accurate! Not once was I apologised to about the mishap and quite frankly the managers customer service was appalling. It became a laughing point of our table in the end.One of our party was also gluten free and the waitress questioned if she'd be having her Yorkshire pudding. If you have any kind of allergy or intolerance STAY AWAY. They clearly don't understand how allergies etc work

Lovely food. Please put the chilli con carne nachos on the menu again or I'll never come back.

We've driven past many times but never stopped so decided to book an early evening meal for 2 at 4.30pm on the way home one day. Very disappointing experience. Staff were very welcoming. Interiors and furnishings very dated and in need of a re-furb but it was the food we had mainly come for after reading some reviews. Husband had a starter, pate, which he said was quite bland, chutney nice and crusty bread fine. Our mains were pork belly with dauphinoise potatoes & green beans and chicken breast with fries, creamy garlic mushroom sauce. I was very much looking forward to a meal I hadn't cooked myself but thoroughly disappointed, it was a la carte but definitely not in my opinion. Very small puece of pork belly, extremely hard crackling and very dried out. The potatoes were the tastiest part of the meal with a nice herby flavour, the green beans were quite stringy. Husbands chicken again very dry, fries were tasty and sauce quite bland. I was going to have a dessert but decided not to bother as by then we had about 15mins left of our alloted 1hr 45min time slot!! 2 glasses white wine and 2 lager shandies came to £64.68. I dont think we'll bother again.

Went to a wedding in the lodge , the barn was lovely but very expensive for drinks a pint of lager was £5.00 but a double rum and coke was £9.40 . Which I thought was very expensive considering the coke was from large bottles and served in small plastic cups .Nice venue but drinks expensiveFood & drinks: Expensive drinks just over £9.00 for a doulble rum and coke . Served in small plastic cups

Not great. Went for Sunday dinner. Drinks order was taken straight away but then took 30 mins to take our food order after asking 3 people. The food was bland for a Sunday dinner and the nut roast was not a nut roast, was horrible and looked liked loads of rice in it. The falafel flatbread was nice and the only thing that was tasty.
