my friend and I always meet there as its convenient for us both. the staff are friendly and professional. I have enjoyed every meal. especially the Sunday roast. Dog friendly and a good size outdoor area. I signed up for e-mails and get some great offers too.

We visited this pub for Sunday lunch on my son's birthday. Our table for four was booked for 2.30. On being seated we ordered drinks. These didn't appear for almost half an hour. The waitress then took our order for food. After another half hour (during which several tables which had arrived after us had been served their meals) my husband went to the bar and asked if our food would be much longer. Following this, one of the kitchen staff came out into the crowded restaurant and shouted at us that 'half an hour is not too long to wait for food' . When the food eventually arrived at 3.30.all four meals were tepid at best. By this time we were so hungry that we ate it anyway (we didn't fancy being shouted at a second time either). Definitely won't be going back here.

Superb food & service. Such a shame we’ll have to drive 150 miles to come back!! Tho the beef rib would be worth it!!

We have tried this place on two occasions. First time food was burnt service was slow not very good at all. We gave it another chance today and was possibly the worst food I’ve had in a while. The twice cooked chips I think had been cooked 17 times awful and my fish finger sandwich was awful. £7.70 for one fish finger bland in stale bread. Not recommend 2 fails in 2 visits.

The serving staff were great, the beer was pulled well and kept its head.Question? Why did the cook give me brown lettuce on my prawn cocktail?I don't eat brown lettuce at home so why would I have to pay for it in a restaurant?I cut around the brown lettuce and ate the non brown lettuce. My comment to the table server was "brown lettuce, really?" There was not much of a reaction from the server that cleared the starter plates away.

Great place, efficient service, convenient and reasonable prices! Local to us and a few managers over the years but good currently, clean, very polite service and convenient. Easy to book online too. Vintage inn so standard menu and prices but usually good range of beers too.

Visited this public house as staying at holiday inn close by. On entering. Clean. Tidy and the food smelled great. A loverly lady welcomed us. We had doombar loverly pint and reasonable price. We had a snack. But plenty of choice. As i wanted something without galic sauce they done me a plain ham and cheese melted sandwich. Great comes with fries. The lady was very nice. Always asked if we like anything else. If in area again will return.Thank you .

Visited the restaurant 3 or 4 times during a week working in Newport. The surroundings, atmosphere and friendly staff were great. Having tried most things on the menu all were tasty and great portions. The prices are also very reasonable. Will definitely return if in the area again. Worth visiting.

We met friends for an evening meal. The food was good hot and generous. And the service just right. The waitress was there every time we wanted her yet did not seem to be hovering and this was when restaurant was very busy.

Dined with family and disappointed with the meals we had. Won't be coming back.. chicken pie very dry and fishcakes overcooked, dry and tastless. On a plus, our waitress was amazing.

My girlfriend Basia and myself decided to stop in for lunch. We had the seabass and belly pork with scallops... Beautifully presented both with seasoned creamed potatoes and delicious vegetables, cooked to perfection and tasted devine. Followed by vanilla and orange creme brulee and rich banoffe pie... Service was excellent, polite and attentive. A real treat, we will be back soon...
