I visited today with my booking. The restaurant and food were lovely. It was spoiled by a rude staff member. The waitress who served us was nice but the male waiter/chef was very rude. My friend has a severe peanut allergy where in the past she suffered an anaphylatic reaction and can lose her life if she eats peanuts as the airways close. We had looked online and there appeared to be no nuts on main menu. My friend politely pointed out that she has a peanut allergy and the waitress kindly noted it and said to the male waiter/chef who rolled his eyes immediately and walked away. There was no thought or consideration for her welfare. Whilst the waitress asked if my friend had medication on her in case a reaction occurred and explained all but the desert are nut free. The man was very rude and stormed off. I find that really unprofessional and insensitive, knowing that too many people fight allergies and people lose their lives unnecessarily from allergic reactions. His behaviour was rude and not compassionate as would have been expected. My friend then asked if they had any salt or pepper. The waitress then explained that she had been asking the owner for some more as they must be being stolen, however the owner doesn't like people putting salt and pepper on their foods as they have enough, also we were told that if we put parmesan on our fish and we have an issue with it or take it back, they won't allow us to have the fish back as the chef doesn't accept parmesan cheese going on fish. The food was okay. It was a lovely appearance of the restaurant and the waitress was helpful and nice. Just a shame about the way that my friend was treated who is currently going through alot with a close family member battling cancer. This treatment was the last thing she needed. We will not be returning to this restaurant. I hope that the waiter learns empathy and manners in the meantime as I honestly hope no one is treated unwelcome and like an outsider for an allergy.

Not regulars but over the years we’ve used this restaurant many times. On this occasion we were a party of 10 celebrating my daughter’s birthday. We spent a pretty penny with allAdults having at least 4 drinks , starters and mains . The desert selection did not appeal to any of us so none of us ordered one. we asked for the staff to bring out my daughters birthday cake. ( which we took with us) because no one ordered a desert we were told that we were to be charged £2.50 per person to cut the cake .Never in all my years have I come across this ?? For all of us that’s it. Sadly because of this None of us will ever return.

This is such a nice place to visit on date night, or with the family. Such a lovely atmosphere and fantastic service… the food was phenomenal. Delicious! If you’re into trying new beers - there is a beer on the menu from Italy that I’d not see or tried before, I would highly recommend.

Lovely time celebrating a. special family birthday, the atmosphere was not quite there, but this is likely due to us having an earlier reservationParking: Parking is for 2 hours with a 2 hour no return if arriving before 8pm Monday to Saturday- worth noting thisKid-friendliness: Fabulous children's menu that was reasonably priced

One of favourite places to eat in Newport. The restaurant had a classy refurb during Covid. They have kept their traditional warm and welcome atmosphere but added a contemporary feel to the restaurant. With the addition of the pizza oven, the eatery has become a hotspot for traditional oven cooked Italian style pizzas. So good, I could have eaten it twice with a side of garlic bread. Ended our meal with a gelato and a brandy. 10/10 highly recommend.
