I can't speak highly enough about this fish and chip shop. The food is consistently fantastic, the staff friendly and kind.Even the fussy kids think it is great and there can be no harder critics.

Chips were OK that's all, using poor quality potato and cheap oil to maximise profits Fish is Average, Sheppards on Cardiff road is much

George's was so much better proper traditional chippySlow service, Bad quality food, Chips often undercooked, Small portions, OverpricedCould be so much betterNothing that sets you apart from any other bang average chippyWhy have you got the silly banner winder sticker a cross the whole front window, let people see insideCan't believe some people have mentioned best chip shop in Newport that's laughable this is Average at best, Jones's is the best by far in Newport

Sadly they've just changed their chips and they are not as nice.

First time using this chippy since taken over from George’s fish bar.Such an impressive improvement compared to the previous chippy!Owner Hugh was a great man!

Always busy, which can only ever be a good sign. Fish and chips are always lovely, and the fish is cooked to order. Can mean a bit of a wait and not much space to wait and no eat in options, but the takeaway is always worth it.

Lovely batter on the food and the fish is prepared and cooked while you wait. Staff are polite. Pity they are closed on a Mon as they seem to lose business.

Fantastic fish & chips, would definitely recommend.

In a crowded market all roads lead to the Gaer to this Establishment to secure the most flavoursome Fish and Chips in Newport. The key to the success is the thinness of the batter wrapped around the succulent fish and as important the quality of the chips sans grease but crisp and piping hot.Spotlessly clean shop and the food presented in a pristine box , a high bar has been set for the competition. No doubt queues will shortly emerge as the word gets out so key is to order in advance. Recommended.

Honestly overall the best fish and chips I've had(I'm a huge food critic) the fish stayed crispy and flavourful even when we travelled back home to blackwood, which most of the time the batter around will become soggy but this didn't! Absolutely amazing place for fish and chips, and also joey is an amazing person, extremely friendly.(I do recommend the louisiana seasoning on chips but on its own, don't mix with anything else as it can over power the flavours)

Joey is a good chippo man. In all seriousness, great chips, great service and not too greasy at all.
