Excellent service. Brilliant Landlord. Fantastic locals. Everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. Food was great and a lovely cosy atmosphere. It made our trip, to find this absolute gem of a pub in a beautiful Welsh village. Will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality John.

If you are nearby, visit the Railway Inn. Staff are very friendly, beer selection is good, mix of local and national, and the food is great. Just what we needed after a days walking in the hills. Can't recommend it highly enough

Really, really great evening for our visit to Wales. Curry night was lovely. Fresh food made by the landlord (who is a trained chef), perfectly pulled pints and a great atmosphere. John and his team know the meaning of hospitality, couldn't have felt more welcome. There was even a treat for the dog! 5 stars, would give 10 if we could.

Called in last night for curry and a pint for just £7.50. Great atmosphere, excellent food and superb beer! The curry was really good... beef Madras, rice, poppadum, nan bread, onion bhaji, samosa and chips. I can definitely recommend a visit!

This is a gem. It has been closed because of the pandemic, but is now recently re-opened. New landlord is very friendly, and his staff are smashing too. Beer is good, and there is a lovely abience. Roaring log fire on one of the lunchtimes we visited. They do excellent Sunday lunches, but you have to book.

Visited twice during our weeks stay in the village. They serve excellent pub food and it is great value for money considering the portion sizes are so big.

We were recommended this pub in the welcome book of the cottage we were staying in, in Abergynolwyn. We were just staying for the weekend and of the three nights only decided to eat out on the Saturday night. We went over at 6pm. It took at least 5 minutes for the bar maid to actually acknowledge us, no ‘hello or I’ll be with you a minute’. When finally spoken to we said that we would like to have dinner and she said you have to book to go in the restaurant (which we were not at all aware of) not ‘have you booked?’, ‘sorry, we’re fully booked’ or ‘I’ll see if we have any tables free’. I assume the restaurant wasn’t fully booked as it was empty when we walked past the window on the way in and out of the pub. She then said we could sit at one of the tables in the bar area. We chose what we wanted to eat and went to the bar to order. This time it took at least 10 minutes for us to be spoken too. The barmaid was constantly walking to and from the kitchen which appeared to be miles away. People sat at the bar were also commenting on how slow the service was. The food arrived in good time and the waitress was friendly. We had a burger and a beef lasagne. The lasagne was burnt and the burger was very dense. Both served with a lot of chips. Neither of us finished our meals. The thing that annoyed me most of all though was that a family of 4 came in after we had ordered our food and asked if they could order food. The barmaid then said that she would see if there were any tables free in the restaurant. Surprise surprise, there were and off they went into the restaurant. The responses from the pub to negative reviews on here appear to say ‘why didn’t you mention this on the night?’. Well to that I would say that you shouldn’t have to complain about things like this and even if we attempted to we probably would have been waiting at the bar to do so. I don’t like going out and having to complain about things. I guess we just won’t be going back if we visit Abergynolwyn again.

Just had a great family meal at the railway inn. Friendly staff, gorgeous fresh and beautifully Hot food with large portion sizes . Clean and smart looking restaurant. Reasonably priced for the standard and size of the meals. Our only suggestion to the pub was, that the restaurant was too cold, it could do with being a little bit warmer. we did warm up as the meal progressed and the room filled up, it wasn’t necessary to bother the busy staff with this moan. Would definitely return Thank you to the staff for a lovely evening
