Had a really great time here over the Christmas period. Some really friendly staff and superb food. Was chatting with the manager about the improvements that have happened here in the past few months, what a good job!! Recommend 100% - I would say to book on a Sunday though, it’s gets busy!

Super slow service, ordered via app and could see the drinks sat behind the bar waiting to be bought over whilst all the staff just stood round chatting. Food was passable, but only just. Carvery looked a bit dire on entry so avoided that, had a Katsu curry with a side of cardboard, well that's what the naan bread (who puts naan bread with a Katsu) felt like I was eating.Service has always been poor here and despite everytime I walk out I say I won't go back, I still end up back there probably because it always looks quiet...then I repeat said thought again when I leave

I regularly meet up with friends here. The food is nice and good value. But the toilets are a disgrace, hygiene and safety with loose toilet seats and doors that won’t close. Really lets it

Family of 9 Christmas Eve lunch was awful have been her for family get togethers before and although food is never brilliant it’s ok. But today, starters were fine but one main course came out in the middle of the starters which we sent back Medium rare sirloin well strangest looking sirloin I’ve seen was well/ over done. Adults halfway through their food before the kids food came out. I complained and the manager did refund 4 of the adult meals. We didn’t stay and we didn’t even treat the kids to deserts. The staff were very pleasant but very disorganised and slowThe whole experience, service very haphazard. We won’t go back. We need to find somewhere else for our get together. All in all very disappointing

Pre booked meal on Boxing Day. Sat at table for over twenty minutes without been approached by a member of staff. Asked for our starters. Then overheard the table next to us being told that they'd run out of their starters and sweets. Queried where our starters were only to be told that they had run out of one of our starters and the sweets. Decided to just have the carvery. Meat was good, everything else was terrible. Almost broke a tooth on the roast potatoes. Waitress service was non existent. Staff looked very unhappy. For the icing on the cake had the misfortune of seeing a member of the cooking staff in the bar area. All I will say is I have seen homeless people take more pride in their cleanliness and appearance. Have visited you on a regular basis and it has always been a lovely experience . On Boxing Day of all days you let us down and I am sure we weren't the only ones who had a terrible experience

Worst Christmas dinner ever. chewy prawns In prawn coctail Turkey was dry , sprouts were hard, Yorkshire pudding was soft and mushy. had to spread butter on my crackers with a spoon handle with my very disappointing cheese board ,which came with a selection of 3 cheeses, 4 crackers ,warm stick of celary, We should have had choice of tea & coffee but was not asked which we wanted so we left very disappointed ,won't be coming back.

Wonderful reception from the hostess, seated promptly and had a luffly meal all staff were very attentive especially a lady called Katrina I think her name was, I'm not too good with a Brummy accent. Definitely coming back.

I only dropped in for a quick drink at lunch time but it was long enough to decide that I want to come again. This is a lovely old building right on the canal with narrow boats moored nearby. Nice pleasant staff too. The coffee machine was out of order but no worries. I hope to return soon.

We booked our Christmas get together here and although I had some problems with the website booking form the staff were happy to sort it out. The actual night was brilliant, the staff helpful and food excellent. A lovely night out! Thank you very much!

My partner and myself frequented the pub for a meal regularly. Please note the word frequented not frequent . The meal today was the worst we have ever had, the cauliflower was not cooked it was hard as were the sprouts. This was not the first time the vegetables have been hard from the carvery. What made today’s meal worse was the fact there was a man with a microphone pretending to be a singer, he was very loud ( I think this was because of the fact he didn’t have a good voice) we could hardly hear each other. If he had sung a little quieter it may have been better but. I doubt it.

Had table for 7 for Sunday carvery , had to wait 15 minutes in line to order food and drinks only 1 person serving at the bar ,the carvery was th e most bland tasteless carvery I've ever experienced. Then when finished we were given 10 minutes notice to vacate our table for another booking , so we cancelled the round of drinks we were about to get

Went as a largish party on Sunday, staff were fine, but 4 of us had the carvery, and the food was awful, paid extra for pigs in blankets, they were black, couldn't eat them, the yorkies were over done to the point there was nothing in the middle and were rock hard to bite, the stuffing was burnt and been sat for a long time. I was then VERY poorly that night, and looking on Facebook I wasn't the only one. We won't be back.

Great for a spur-of-the-moment carvery or family gathering of eight or more. Always able to accommodate us. Decent amount of food even with the small plate option, which is just enough for a mid-week lunch. Without fail, a choice of three meats. Turkey and gammon is my favourite combo. Decent selection of veg and potatoes and hot gravy. The pub itself is always very busy so the food on the carvery turns over quickly, and not sitting there going cold and dry. The atmosphere is laid-back and relaxing. Price-wise it's not a drain on the wallet and easy to kinda make that snap decision of, "you know what, let's just grab a Waterside carvery..." Staff work so hard but are always polite and smiling, which must be tough considering how busy it always is. I like it, as if you haven't gathered that already. The Waterside simply ticks all the boxes.
