Stayed here for 1 night. Reception staff incredibly friendly. Cookies on the reception counter too - a nice touch. The room was small, but comfortable. Ate in the restaurant. There are 2 pubs in walking distance but were incredibly busy due to graduations taking place. Food at the hotel restaurant was incredibly expensive. £19 for fish and chips and £18 for a chicken burger. Food quality was poor/mediocre. My colleagues didn’t like the fish and chips. Definitely not good value for money. For 1 starter, 3 mains, 3 desserts and drinks, bill came to £120 which I thought was astonishingly expensive. Breakfast was strange. Buffet style breakfast, but served to you by a server. Would have preferred to have helped myself and got what I wanted rather than what I was given. I suggest venturing further afield for food or ordering in. Rooms and staff made the stay enjoyable. Would return but wouldn’t eat in restaurant again.

Do not use this hotel. The entry road was closed so we had to walk to reception in the rain. The parking was far away AND we had to pay for it PLUS we had to pay the Birmingham clean air charge as well . Hopeless.

Thank you to Si and Carolyn at front of house at Conference Aston for looking after my allergy diet requirements so well. Thank you to the Chefs for some of the best cooked allergy catering I’ve had - the salmon skin was lovely and crispy, the chicken pasta sauce delicious. They already have an allergy kitchen and regular menu but they went beyond that for me as there are many unusual allergies I have. Thank you for allowing me to feel so included in my conference.

On a business trip and from start to finish i have to say the reception team were by far the best i think i have ever encountered. Explaining my situation Mel was immediately sorting solutions for me which was over and above what i had expected... fast forward to check out.. and again was simply explaining my schedule and in jumped Steph to further accomodate me.... i mean it was exceptional. Carolyn in the restaurant was also so very helpful and on hand for my requirements. Absolute go to for me next time i'm back in Birmingham" Thank you ladies!!!

I stayed here for a committee meeting. The hotel was good, the rooms had sufficient space, a mini desk, as well as coffee and tea supplies. The bed was comfy as well. What i also liked, was the access to the pool and fitness on campus at 5min walk. The breakfast buffet was complete. The dinner was mediocre (over cooked food, not very fresh, one waiter wasn't too professional in their jokes and conversation style)

Nothing terrible happened to me here but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Somehow I felt I was in a dystopian future which should never be allowed to happen but already has! I felt I was in a place run by AI and not humans and as a guest you are viewed with suspicion at every turn. The receptionist was very officious and unfriendly on check in and at best, the hotel is clinical and just a place to put your head down if you’re working nearby. It’s certainly not cheap and speaking as a frequent traveler, I don’t know any other hotel of the kind it pretends to be, where breakfast is finished at 9am. It’s functional at best. The bar doesn’t stay open at all, understandably, because why would anyone want to hang out in this hotel? There are plenty of other real hotels around the area so I’d recommend you look elsewhere.

We stayed here on a Friday evening, so there was no restaurant or bar. This drops the hotel to nothing better than a Premier Inn. Great staff on reception, nice clean room ( Executive double), comfy bed and not to hot (was 28 degrees outside). Car park 100yds away within the pedestrianised area the hotel sits in. Excellent pub in same are that serves good beer and food ( Sack of potatoes). We wouldn't stay here again, as unfortunately, lack of facilities at weekends make it no better than Premier Inn, but double the price or more.

Our room was clean & well equipped, which was as expected with an executive double! Check-in was a shambles! Breakfast was appalling!! Extremely overpriced and very poor! Queues for everything! 20 minute queue for cooked breakfast being served by one member of staff. Pastries, coffee, fruit, butter etc etc constantly running out! Tables nor being cleared away! I've stayed in many hotels and this was by far the worst breakfast experience I have encountered! No parking available. Miles from anywhere! Overpriced, understaffed and totally unorganised!

Located on the Aston campus and with parking available ( though extra) we were hopeful of a pleasant stay. The reception team were friendly and professional and our room was reasonably spacious. Furniture reminded me of a good Travelodge. All was very clean. Our double room had one hand towel and two bath sheets - if we were staying longer I would want at least anotherhand towel. The room was very warm and although a fan is provided, it made so much noise we decided to go without it overnight. Happliy they provide a magnifying mirror but it's light is not working. Our morning didn't start well with the whole shower fixture falling off the wall into the bath, rendering it unusable. Then it got much worse with our pre- paid breakfast experience. Many items unavailable including plates, milk, yoghurt and eggs, long queues for coffee and hot food, no table clearing etc etc So bad that we had our money back. In the unlikely event we came here again I advise going into the city for breakfast. We paid almost £230 for room only and expected better

We visited this hotel to go to a concert at the Utilita..The hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy..rooms were very comfortable and warm. The breakfast was amazing loads to choose from. It was about a 15 minutes walk to the city but taxis are just outside if you fancy one. The staff were friendly & helpful and the Hotel Manager Edwin was just the nicest man, he went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect and it was. He's a credit to the hotel..we'll definitely be back again..thank you. ?

I paid £19 for a really small plate of gnocci, which in my opinion was really bad! I normally LOVE all food but think I would have prefer pesto pasta to this. Really disappointing. This review is based on food - the service was good.

A hidden gem.Nestled away in Aston University Business School is the conference centres hotel and bar.The restaurant offers a selection of varying dishes - lunch comes in at a very reasonable price point for the quality of offering, and is the subject of this review. The restaurant is largely self serve for lunch, with table service for drinks and coffee.Starters are offered as a self select buffet - typically soup, salads and a few extras - ones I've enjoyed recently being pressed ham hock and mackerel pate. Two or three mains are served - I've seen meat, fish and vegetarian options. Food tends to be straightforward and satisfying.A small selection of desserts and cheese round of an enjoyable experience.I've brought a few people here recently and it has gone down well on each occasion.
