In all the very many reviews I've left on Social Media (most in glowing praise) I've never written anything remotely like this!As an ex-Suttonian, I enjoy renewing my acquaintance with the Asian Grill when visiting friends in the area. So this is what we did on my latest visit back. It seemed strange to us when we arrived that there was absolutely no-one in the restaurant when we arrived - particularly as it was a Friday evening. Maybe our experience provided us with a clue why...I'd eaten a meal in Birmingham with a client that same lunchtime, so only needed a snack, my friend needing a little more. So having explained this to the waiter, we ordered a cheese paneer, sag aloo, pilau rice, 3 popadums (all to share) and of course a Kingfisher each. So far, so good...A little while later a different person (the manager?) arrived and instructed us to order a main course. Having explained that we'd already explained to his colleague that I'd already eaten that day, hence the order of a few small dishes only, he became surprisingly aggressive, snatched our drinks from us and ordered us to leave. In NO undertain terms!Now if the policy is that spending £30 isn't sufficient, then there's ways of saying so. Even unfriendly would be almost understandable. But downright rude and aggressive? Totally uncalled for. Not surprisingly, we left, the restaurant returned to being devoid of customers, and insted enjoyed an excellent Chinese (meal!) at the other end of the HighStreet.Not surprisingly, we won't be returning. At all. Not really an issue in terms of them earning income from me as I only eat there four or five times a year. To have alienated a complete local family who previously utilised the restaurant for both take-a-ways and sit in meals though does seem to be less than sensible?As I say, never in all the years I've provided reviews have I left a review remotely like this. There again, I can't recall ever having had an experience like this either!

19/12/23. Went to the Asian Grill. Not a particularly great experience. They wouldn't bring out the pickles and some popedom’s so we could enjoy them while we looked at the menu, we had to order first, then they'd bring them out. The moment we'd eaten them the starter arrived. We ordered the Asian Grill Platter for 2. Don't bother, it was £10 for 1 chicken drumstick, a small piece of chicken breast, a tiny piece of sheek kebab, a dice sized piece of something else, garnished with a little Lettice. You're better off ordering 3 starters between 2, you would get far more. So that was a complete rip off. We were given one wrong main which was replaced. The mains were tasty but the whole experience was rushed by staff who didn't go out of there way to make you feel welcome. We felt as if they wanted us out as quick as possible so they could get the next customer in. Very disappointed as this was once a very nice place. Sutton Coldfield is well served by Indian Restaurants so you'd think they'd make an effort to keep their clientele. Overall; the food was good, but way too expensive based on what you'd get elsewhere for your money. That was our last visit to The Asian Grill.

Had a couple of takeaways and the first one was stone cold and waited over a hour and a half for it but rang the restaurant and manager said he would refund and was apologetic he said just call next time and we will sort it out phone to place an order to be told it’s too busy to sort out so again I just place order no problems on this one phone again and said just put it through and we will sort the food arrived again like warm looked like it had just been microwaved as paneer was all burnt inside tandoori mixed grill was as tough as old boots so was the balti chicken reheated and salad all brown looked like it had been saved from day before popadoms very greasy and burnt chips grey and crusty said they would get the manager to ring didn’t this time won’t be using again

Uncooked aubergine . We usaually rate the food here but this meal was bad . Very poor flavours and hard uncooked aubergine .

Myself and my husband dined at the Asian grill the 23/7/23 and were very impressed with the food and the service. It came piping hot and there was no long waits either. Would recommend to others.

Walked in and asked if we'd booked a table ,we hadn't so asked to wait in the bar area, then led to a table to my surprise we we're the only persons in the place,as for the food I had a balti god knows what it was, they ask you if you want poppadoms which are cold when they arrive and drop the little sauces on the table and charge 1,50 without telling you,, above all it's not the place I used regularly over the years,,, I've decided to use the Indian restaurants in boldmere,they are much better,,, above all wasn't made welcome and the food wasn't good,,,

It was great experience last night in Asian grill. Good food, well served and friendly staff. I would recommend 5 of 5.starter was nice and the meal was absolutely gorgeous.
