amazing meal in one of the pods! One of the nicest country pub meals I’ve had! 10/10. Dog friendly too! Would definitely go again and would recommend a

Overall food was pretty good. Cauli cheese very wet. Roasties not very crispy. Appeared quite steamed in appearance and taste.

Gorgeous pub, wonderful atmosphere, beautifully decorated for Christmas at the moment, log fires, warm welcome friendly staff, delicious food, plenty of parking space. What more can I say.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Huge portion sizes. Open roaring fire. Very dog friendly and we got to meet a lot of other pooches.Welcoming service from the staff, the pub hasn’t got the most charming interior but it more than makes up for it with the food. My pint of real ale tasted a bit off, I think it was past its best. Will definitely be back!

Fabulous pub! Delicious Sunday lunch and the service was efficient and friendly. Lovely atmosphere with a roaring fire and a busy buzz but not so loud that you can't hold a conversation. Very dog friendly too. We'll be back!

If you’re looking for a traditional country pub setting with great food, this place is one to try. Lovely festive atmosphere with log fires and pretty Christmas decorations. Delicious food, beautifully presented and friendly, attentive staff. We really enjoyed our evening, thank you so much!

We were a Christmas family party of twelve including four children and required both vegan and dairy free lunches. We pre ordered for 12.45 but because of an accident blocking the route we didn’t’t sit down until 2.15pm. The staff were very understanding. Meals were excellent. The staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Well done to all of you.

We booked one of the pods and it was cosy and warm. The food was delicious. All dishes tried were tasty and well presented. The service was faultless. Highly recommended.

We’re local but hadn’t been for a long time. As we were passing we decided to call in for lunch and were very glad we did. We were early on a lunchtime and were seated near to one of the fires as it was really cold outside. We had the Welsh rarebit with bacon and eggs extras, plus the lamb’s liver with mash and onion gravy. Both dishes were served quickly, were very tasty, and piping hot. We decided we’d make the effort to come back again soon, especially as the service was efficient and friendly. Overall a very nice lunch although my pint of Harveys wasn’t brilliant. It wasn’t bad and didn’t warrant being sent back but i hope it’s better next time.

Our first visit to the Sportsman for Sunday lunch today was a very memorable one. Having seen roast dinners arrive at other tables we just had to indulge. Before we get to that though, I have to mention how welcoming and accommodating the restaurant team were. They were also never far away to help us with refills and enjoy the occasion. The restaurant itself was very spacious, warm and comfortable enough that we were able to enjoy a long, enjoyable visit. Now we get to the food. On top of the usual roast chicken and beef offerings were also pork and lamb, and some of us chose to go for a mix. I had beef and lamb. Roasts come with veggies, roast potatoes, a large Yorkshire pud, and lots of gravy. Note: chicken can’t be mixed due to it being in large pieces. We also chose to add extra sides of cauliflower, cheese and piggies in blankets. The food arrived after a little while, but we were busy chatting anyway, enjoying the atmosphere. The plates arrived hot, and they both looked and tasted amazing. If you have a healthy appetite and a taste for good food, you definitely won’t be disappointed. Go there soon!! Next time we must try dining in one of the outside wood cabins for a more personal surrounding. They looked great!!

Fantastic home cooked food, very tasty certainly worth a visit. Two beautiful log fires gave this place a cosy welcoming feel. Staff very friendly and service was excellent. Highly recommend.

The food was less than mediocre (we have been here several times before so regretfully we knew what to expect) Thankfully we were there for the entertainment (Mark A Wright) which was brilliant and saved the day.

£3 for a coffee that was half full and weak and tepid? £2.50 for one slice of bread? 50 minute wait after ordering.
