My wife received an e-mail from Ember Inns enabling her to enjoy a free birthday bottle of Prosecco at The Fox and Hounds. As we never refuse a free drink we booked a table for yesterday evening (Sunday). A Sunday dinner without me having to cook it! We arrived and chose a table. A fellow diner who was just leaving warned us about the lack of choice of food. Sunday dinners and fish meals were off the menu. After the disappointing news we ordered our respective meals and collected the bottle of Prosecco. The starters arrived, mushrooms and calamari. They were both enjoyable. We waited for twenty-five minutes before the mains appeared. Why did we have to wait for so long, the place was deserted? I ordered Surf and Turf. The garlic prawns tasted of anything other than garlic prawns. The sirloin steak, which I paid a supplement for, was dire. Although it was cooked to my liking and had a marvellous flavour the majority of it, in fact almost all of it, was indelible owing to the vast amount of gristle and sinew. I found it objectionable to say the least. We waited for the staff to clear the plates and ask,”How was your meal?” I would have pointed to the remains of the steak and ask,”What do you think?” Unfortunately this didn’t happen. After waiting for around twenty minutes we decided to head home leaving the dinner plates behind. I made my comments known to the barman who, in turn, would pass them on to the chef. Did that mollify me? Apart from the generous gift of a bottle of Prosecco the Fox and Hounds gave us very poor service and inedible steak. We have eaten there before and enjoyed the whole experience which added to yesterday’s great disappointment.

Lovely experience coming in for a meal with my family, happened to be same day as the pub quiz as well which was great!Served by a lovely girl called chloe who thoroughly looked after our table with great service and me and my family will definitely be coming back.

Stopped for a wonderful meal on Friday at the Fox and Hounds with my mum and dad. The food was absolutely fabulous! Honestly, it gives miller and carter a run for their money! A massive shout out to the assistant manager, I believe his name was Arnie, he helped my mother decide what she was able to order that wouldn’t affect her gluten intolerance. Lovely food and lovely people, could not recommend more!

Recently came to the pub for a family get together and had a brilliant time. We regularly come in with our young puppy and the staff are fantastic; always welcoming and happy to have a chat giving a real personal service - exactly what you would want from your local pub! Nate always a joy to talk to and he makes a real fuss of the pup, always a pleasure to see him.

Had lunch yesterday, very disappointed, a lot of things on the menu were not available, food was ok but nothing to rave about. As far as the staff , there was a very rude barman, we used the app to make it easier and he brought the drinks over on a tray and just left it there, definitely in the wrong job. I would not visit again and I wouldn’t recommend I fact I would say “don’t go there”
