Simple food service with a smile ?How disappointing that visitors cannot clear their own plates and rubbish?? So these people have waiters at home? ??‍♂️??

This place is filthy! The bins are over filled, the tables are not wiped down, the chairs are crusty and the staff managed to give you the wrong cake even when there is only two to choose from. Had to wipe down our table (the place is half empty and no cleaning staff) this place is horrible.

Great staff and amazing value! We stopped by for lunch today and had a delicious sweet potato and aubergine curry and chill con carne. Both served with very tasty home made potato wedges and attractively presented with a garnish of salad. Really good value at £12:95 each. The staff were absolutely lovely and chatty - I felt so sorry for them having to put up with a very demanding customer in front of us, but feel they handled the situation extremely well. I feel the rating here is very misleading and would be very happy to return next time we're in the area.

Absolutely dreadful! Quality of food diabolical not worth £8 for a ciabatta. Really a total let down for such wonderful venue, Wakehurst and Kew should be ashamed. £8 for an uncooked, bland and totally unimaginative sandwich is a joke. Rest of food on display not on par with a setting such as Wakehurst.

After a very enjoyable walk around the estate yesterday we stopped at the cafe for a drink and piece of cake, I think it’s fair to say that the cafe at Wakehurst has never been particularly cheap but in the past it’s always represented reasonable value for money, Yesterday however this was not the case. I chose a piece of Raspberry and Pistachio Tiffin which cost something like £3.75. The triangular portion of cake I was served was about half the size of what one might reasonably expect to be given in a cafe such as this or at a National Trust property. I estimate the size to have been around 9cm square so that works out at a cost of about 42p per square cm. This is more expensive than the most exotic cake that can be brought at Selfridges or Borough Market and to be blunt is taking the piss. I am not a cheapskate and don’t expect something for nothing but I do expect value for money. The cake tasted okay but was nothing special. Ditto for the coffee. Next time I’ll just buy a coffee, take my own cake, and sit outside.

I enjoyed our food, the service was quick and staff polite. We were lucky enough to find a table outside to make the most of a lovely afternoon.

Nice coffee and cake though not special.

Excellent, friendly service, great food by Simon and staff and served by his helpful mother and staff. Korean chicken and potato wedges absolutely delicious. Lots of salad choices, and jackets etc an absolute find! Well done.

Ironically no plant based/vegan options and "artisan coffee" made by a machine. Ok at best.

Once again this resturant has left me bereft of words, my husband and I had coffee before our walk and I have seen better swill. The coffee was disgusting, that is if they used any actual coffee. Along with this, what was in the cup was cold. Also it amazes me that a black Americano is the same price as a cappuchino

Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are nice with comfortable seating. The food is standard and similar to other similar places. There did appear to be minimal staff,q with no effort to increase staff presence, when I visited, which caused long queues, creating annoyed patrons and stressed staff. I did not go on a busy day, so dread to think what this is like when it us. My advice, bring your own food and drink.

Really poor selection of food. Hot food stopped at 3pm which is reasonable but then only one choice of pre-packaged sandwiches on a Saturday when Sunday should be busy so should have a wide selection for the entire weekend! Too expensive also, one GF cheese ploughman’s sandwich (packaged like a petrol garage and no regular bread available), one chocolate twist pastry and pot of tea for 2 was £12

Captive diners ensure the quality is kept nice and low; worse than cafeteria food but watchagonnado? Pack a picnic. Some vegan options though. Swedish Glace ice cream was a happy surprise!

Disappointingly bland ciabatta with tasteless ham and cheese. Would not recommend I'm afraid
