Insufficient staff for the number of tables hence the very slow service . The waitress tried her best .We were not informed when certain food was not available, and instead were just presented with poor alternatives, for example a tiny portion of mash potato instead of potato dauphinoise and fish pie instead of chicken pie. The table wasn’t cleared and properly laid , we had to wait for the cutlery whilst the food was sitting on the table getting very cold . The manager was begrudgingly apologetic and offered a 10% discount off the bill . However, when we said this wasn’t acceptable and mentioned he should have had more staff on for the number of tables reserved , he said “I’m not answering that” and stormed off .He sent the lady back with the card machine and we paid what we felt the meal was worth .

This is a proper pub with great food, well run and worth a visit.Great all year around from sitting in the gardens, terrace in the sun or tucked up inside by the open fire in the winter, enjoying home cooked fayre and a decent pint of Harveys. Go check it out, you wont be dissapointed.

We were fortunate enough to have an amazing Christmas Day lunch with these guys! Food was great, service was excellent. We couldn’t fault anything! There were 16 of us and we were all very happy with our food. Thank you for making our day so memorable!

We visited last Sunday the menu sadly was mainly roast. I was looking forward to try other things. My roast was beef and it wasn't my favourite, overcooked. Service is friendly and nice.

Came here with my brother who is a regular/local and I was made to feel very welcome by the landlord and his staff and would've stayed longer had it not for needing to get the bus home. Can't comment on the food as I we didn't dine there but 100% brilliant country pub.

First visited this great pub in May when we enjoyed a really good pint and lunch. Returned again today for an even better meal. There was a good selection of food, both on the menu and specials board. We chose the hunters chicken and the belly pork. The food came quickly, was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious! If in the area you must visit the Crown Inn as it has everything you need - great tasty food, good atmosphere, quaint internal dining area (very old inn) and large external eating area.

Lovely old pub, great friendly staff. The food prices are on the higher end of what I would expect to pay when there is no table service and the food was average, although the chips were great.Wheelchair accessibility: Not suitable for disabled people as the toilet is up a few steep uneven steps. If you don't need a bathroom it is lovely to sit outside

We had a really lovely meal here on Sunday. We went on the spa valley railway and decided to get off at Groomsbridge and have a look around the village. I had read the reviews for this pub which were all excellent and so thought we would try it for ourselves. The food was really delicious. We ordered roast dinners and chicken nuggets and chips for the grandchildren and we all really enjoyed our meal. The staff are all very friendly and there is a lovely garden which you can walk around in or sit in and enjoy the lovely views. Will definitely return on our next visit to Groomsbridge. There is also a really nice play park 8 min walk away next to the village hall.

The food here is to die for- we came twice!! The lamb wellington is cooked to perfection. Beer Garden is lovely and staff were very co-operative about getting the food up the hill.

Having returned to the area after a 37 year absence, I thought we'd revisit the Crown, for my birthday dinner. There was just my wife and I. We had booked and were greeted by welcoming, enthusiastic staff, to a remembered, warm, clean and cozy ambience. The meal was perfect as was the Argentinian "Malbec". The International Menu's "Solyanka Soup" is a must-have! Thank you so much.

Been there a few times now. Lovely staff, food created with care, excellent local cider!!! Location is amazing with great walks and views around the area. Driving there through the Sussex countryside is also a treat! We had a gluten free and vegan chocolate desert with vanilla ice cream and custard. Really nice!!! ? will definitely return!!!
