Had yet another pleasant lunchtime at Casa Ciro, food always very good today I enjoyed the Avocado with smoked haddock and leek, service was excellent, it almost made up for the persistent rain we're having!

The service was very slow, the food mediocre, the portions sparse and the restaurant was cold.

We visited today for lunch and had a very helpful waiter. I had the vegan nut escalope, which was absolutely delicious. There were vegan starters available and also a vegan millionaire's shortbread for dessert, although I only had a main. Would definitely

After watching one table leave and the next booking turn up for their drinks to be taken before us, was when we had to grab the nearest waitress to order. This in all took about 20 mins, Finally a gentleman came over, no apology, thanks for waiting etc. Food again took a bit longer than expected. Yes they were busy but I’m sure they are every Sat night. Cannelloni was burnt on the top. Wasn’t asking for another as who knows when it would of come! Felt a bit cold at times. Atmosphere seemed good in all.

Lovely food. Big bonus no loud music so we could talk to each other.Vegetarian options: Good choice.

We have been going to Casa Ciro for years, unfortunately, in December,The food was awful, I boasted to people, how it's still as good as it ever was with the previous owners who built it up, probably 30/40 years, ( we and a lot of our friends have been going there for years) and when the new people took over a couple of years ago they vowed not to change anything, including the staff ,they were very good ,most have been there years, and we got to know them. One of them brought the recipe out for one of the dishes i loved.. It was that kind of place! For a long while, it was as good as it used to be with the new people, why would you change what is working? It started to go downhill a bit and It went down even faster between the 20th of December the 29th with different friends On the 20th. I had cannelloni ,the top was so burnt and hard, . It was like a lid so I had to lift off and eat what was underneath, which wasn't a lot in the end. My Husband and my friend said send it back but, I'm quite a slow eater. I thought by the time they brought another one out, the others would be finished.I did tell the girl to tell chef, it was so dry ,I'm not sure she did ! I expected somebody to come out! My husband and I love the pate & garlic bread! Had it as a starter every single time we went there, Within those nine days,(the pâté was significantly smaller than it used to be on the 20th ) there was even less pâté on the 29th,, and I don't know what the garlic bread was. It look like crusts of a French stick, the patty didn't taste anywhere near as nice The prices have gone up, but they have also trimmed down the food so much now, it is very noticeable, all very stingy ,On the 29th, My friend had goats cheese that made her feel queer, she left it all. Not saying it was her meal, but it was a coincidence. That little round of cheese sat on a bunch of" bagged" salad from the supermarket, and three slices of "garlic bread "nothing like the garlic bread they used to sell, cost..£13/£14 My wine spritzer was mostly soda water, again on the 20th, the spritzer was lovely, The garlic bread? they used to do in the oven? it came out really crispy, one of the things we loved and always had ...that was ok on the 20th! 29th Couple of bits of French stick garlic butter on,flashed under the grill I would guess .. Nothing like it used to be After the cannelloni episode on the 29th , I decided to go back to my other favourite, lasagna!, It was a big bowl of mush! Mostly tomato sauce(passta?) and mozzarella, that's stringy cheese that I do not like! that never used to be on the lasagna I enjoyed many times in Casa Ciro, I ate some of it, I was looking for any pasta or mince? Finally, at the bottom layer, there was some pasta and the mince was scattered about in lumps. Sadly, I think they have either changed the chef or, the owners have told them to cut down on everything, not nice Finally the desert that looked half the size of what it used to be, banoffee pie,£6?£6.50? that used to come with banana/toffee/ crispy base, a lot of cream and something like , a dusting chocolate powder across the top and over the plate, to look nice,!.. it was not nice.. Small wedge of Banoffee pie put on a small plate with no trimmings whatsoever There was a load of cream,, squishy. Banana, (very ripe) about 3 bits, I couldn't find any toffee. very disappointing all round. We all left some of our meal which is unknown in Casa Ciro , Once upon a time, you couldn't get a booking for a couple of weeks. I am sad for a couple of reasons, mainly, it was the go to place when we met up with friends , it was always good. The standards were high. The food was always the same, the service was brilliant and, and you would take friends there with confidence, you knew what you were going to get. the other reason ?I think these people will lose this business overtime. I'm not the only one that's noticed. The bill on the 29th £156 funny thing was , (my friends, have a young son,) I said "if we can't ge
