Went for a special occasion family meal last night & was really looking forward to it. 6 of us, so a hefty bill. We were swiftly ushered to our table, without any chance or choice of ordering drinks in the bar area.Waitress and waiters kept interrupting our conversations on several occasions, nobody mentioned or asked how the lamb would be served/cooked, so when it came, we were surprised that it was raw in places (not medium rare). We had to ask repeatedly if the drinks we'd ordered were coming and the service seemed clunky & awkward. When I went to the ladies', a loud man who looked like a seasoned drinker, broke off his conversation to inform me which direction I should take to get back to my table. Really embarrassing as I think he was the proprietor; I hadn't asked for, or solicited his advice and I was quietly looking at the pictures on the wall. I felt really uncomfortable. It looked and felt like an old persons' local, where everyone has their own tankard and if you're not a local to Tarring Village, you're not really welcome.Used to be really helpful here. For a Saturday night, it wasn't busy, so we were surprised that we experienced this. It's a beautiful old venue though, with lots of interesting history. It's definitely going down hill imo.

My wife's birthday dinner. The food was beautifully prepared and portions spot on. The service was appropriately attentive and the atmosphere was buzzing. Overall a lovely evening. We will definitely be returning.

Great food and service. Would highly recommend. The duck and pheasant were tender and tasty and those who had the lamb rump were also impressed. The creme brulee was delicious and those who had the Christmas pd were also impressed.

We have been coming here for over 25 years. Just back from a meal for our wedding anniversary. Since it is end of November, restaurant had started Christmas menu, but the food and choice still good. I had the Turkey, my wife had the Steak. Nice starters and the home- made Christmas Pudding dessert was very tasty. All staff friendly and efficient too. This restaurant has changed over the years and moved with the times, but menu continues to offer good choice and value. As a bonus, unlike any other restaurants in town I know of, I can always get a pint of well kept Sussex ale here at pub prices.

Probably the best restaurant in Worthing. Most places are best described as brassieries or bistros these days. This is a proper restaurant. Good space around the tables, excellent service and really first class food. Harvey's Old Ale is also superb. It's nice to be able to buy a good ale in a restaurant, not just an over-chilled, bottled, light ale, masquerading as an modern IPA. Highly recommended.

We go at least once a month, the food is always delicious, and usually too much, but they don't mind wrapping up excess meat for my cats. In particular their 'Special Lunches' are to die for, although the ordinary lunches are very good too. If you get the chancer to go for the Christmas dinner do so, so yummy.

An absolutely wonderful meal as usual . My partner had the 12oz Ribeye Steak which he said was perfectly cooked medium to his taste and my daughter and had Seared Sea Bass. Lovely ! The weather was warm so we sat outside in the patio garden which was very nice. Highly recommended
