We have eaten here many times. It is very popular, crowded & noisy. This time we fancied a turkey dinner as we did not have one at Xmas. However, due to our age & the bitter weather we decided to get it delivered by Justeat. The delivery was 10 minutes late, but not bad considering the weather, The turkey dinner? Amazing!! Not only was there a medium size plate each with loads of turkey & some vegetables. There was also a container each with nearly twice the amount of vegetables There were 2 more containers each with pigs in blankets in1 & gravy in the other. Taste!! The 6 veg was tasty & well cooked (al dente where necessary), & the roast potatoes looked black but were delicious. Great yorkshire & gravy. The pigs in blankets were an extra, with 8 each & very tasty! OH! the main item! The turkey!! It was the most succulent & tasty Turkey we had tasted, almost since the ones we had from my brother-in-law's farm in the 1960s. This could become a regular occurrence

Great family friendly venue. We have an annual Xmas meal at the Toby, always plenty of options on the menu & buffet area, service is sometime a little slow but always polite and helpful.Parking: Limited on site parking at front & rear of restaurant, but unrestricted public road parking around site.

We came here as a family on Thursday 21st for breakfast and even though it was PACKED, the team were doing an excellent job! I must single out Jack from the kitchen for doing such a brilliant job here, always replenishing, making everything seem so easy and that we weren't a bother at all - I don't know where you got the energy from, Jack! But I have seen him like this regularly but Google only allows one review per account annoyingly. But Jack, you're a credit to your kitchen team and of course, Toby Carvery. Thank you for making it such a lovely morning with plenty of food coming out and even doing things that weren't in your remit and helping out the front team. It was very much appreciated by many!Back for more soon - have a great Christmas!

Went for a family Christmas meet up. This is now a very tired Toby and is in need of a refit. The furniture and carpets are tired worn and grubby. The food wasn't as good as it used to be. Not very hot, but lots of choice staff were very quick and jolly, but the restaurant needs some love.

For cost and value, it really is a good option.Vegetarian roast dinner options available, service from the waiter was really positive. Lots of seating and good, hot food.

I will state firstly that staff were friendly and prompt, the roast meats were pretty okay (for a carvery). A decent range of meats including beef and lamb. A good range of vegetables and sides, typically crunchy cauliflower cheese, dry carrots. I can forgive the average food, but it is by no means ‘cheap’ anymore. This is only a fiver away from possibly one of the best roasts I’ve ever had anywhere (a clue - the name of the pub is the same, just a few miles up the road). The additional extra ‘pigs in blankets’ were a bit of a liberty for what was a small bowl of greasy cremated mini chipolatas. What just makes the experience so downmarket is that the pub is soooo overdue a lick of paint and some new carpet. I appreciate this would be a cost, and that even though it’s ever so tired, the tracksuit wearing masses arrive in droves to chow down on overflowing plates of flabby yorkshires and sides of mac and cheese regardless. Like I say the staff were good, the food was okay but I can’t recommend it at all. This is only a matter of half a mile from being my local which I find a bit sad.

Sadly, the roast not up to standard. Yorkshire pudding and gravy cold. My pork was cold but my wife had gammon which she said was excellent. The roast potatoes were not crisp but very soft but the roast parsnips were good.

The food was very good but not hot enough!!! We did have it warmed up but it still got cold. Maybe would be better if there were microwaves around the restaurant so we could heat our own food up ? Like they have in Haskins!!!.Also it was very cold in the restaurant we had to keep our coats on !!!!!

At that time it was ideal. There were fewer people than normal. The food was fresh and hot. Best meal so far at your restaurantParking: Front and back parking

We had a lovely time here for lunch with a pork and beef carvery, carved by our best carver, Peter! I hope he never retires…We were served by Phil who made us an amazing floater coffee, Phil the best floater maker of the south! Lovely service and attention from Phil today and nothing is too much trouble! Thank you Phil :-)We saw our usual Tracy and Alisia today which was lovely as it’s nice to see the usuals who have given great service in the past.Thank you for a lovely meal today - we’ll see you soon and look after yourselves!

Lovely food, though the guy on the carvery was making loads of jokes about 'having his bird', asking why the guys didn't 'find their own'. When I said it's all good I've got my husband waiting at my table (clearly stating I'm not straight) he kind of went '...oh.' and went quiet. Explaining my husband had already got his food (as he's pretty easy to spot) the man went oh yeah he made a joke about being good with sausage that makes sense but I won't repeat it as there are kids around. (Literally all my husband had said was that he knew his way around a sausage and laughed... Literally on the same level as the jokes the man was making about birds... But I guess as it was gay that wasn't acceptable Vs a straight joke eh?).So yeah. Everyone else was lovely. Even when our desert was accidentally forgotten about the staff were really accommodating and quickly sorted it.Wheelchair accessibility: A little bit of a struggle. They put us in the corner then seated a huge group right behind my husband meaning had we stayed there he wouldn't have been able to get in and out! With some difficulty I managed to get hold of staff who said we could choose somewhere else (though it had to be in the bar as nowhere was free in the restaurant). This was okay, though it did mean we literally didn't get to start our main course until the party who had been seated after us were already on desert! Also no lowered counters for accessibility, nor staff to help with the carvery, meaning my husband was unable to reach a lot of the vegetables and I had to get extra when I went up so he could actually get everything he wanted. (We were so far from the carvery I couldn't go up with him else we would have lost our table or had to leave our things unattended for a significant amount of time).

The food as usual was very good. Service was excellent, and there was no waiting as we had previously booked. Our lunch was made even better when the bill came around as I had, thank you very much, a 50% Off Mains voucher.Parking: Compared to the number of covers catered for the car park is too small.

I ordered off just eat and left a note asking for my preferences! I received a lovely note back stating they had added more due to the fact I asked nicely. Was very happy with the service! :)
