I was recommended this place and what a lovely place. The cod fish was fresh and the batter was just amazing at a good price. Together with chips and curry sauce.Chips, you can't beat chippy chips. These were cooked to perfection. With curry sauce smothered, just a perfect Friday lunch. The staff are great with a little bit of small talk. I didn't need to wait long, got the order in a timely manner.Definitely come back and try other menu items. And it is next door to their ice cream business.

The chips were a bit greasey they left a taste. Fish was slightly over. Lovely milkshake and the 2 lasses serving were great.

Absolutely beautiful fish and chips. Large haddock and chips ,they were plentiful. I got two scallops just in case the portions were small and l didn't need them. I still ate them though .???Great staff ,very welcoming and helpful.

Just dropped on these reviews when getting the phone number to order my Haddock and chips for my evening meal. Can't believe some them! I and my family rate Hollowgate fish and chips the best in the area and always freshly cooked. The batter is crisply fresh when you get them home in the insulating carton and not sloppy like I have had elsewhere. The small shop is immaculately clean and the staff pleasant and efficient. Hopefully some others who share my good experience will also write to balance things up bit. As a local I am not basing this on just one visit either. I have to drive past another fish and chip shop to go to Hollowgate Fisheries, so that is how highly I rate them!

Absolutely beautiful fish and chips with a gorgeous tasty gluten free batter. Cooked to perfection. Eaten from here twice now and have been impressed on both occasions. Well worth a visit and you can also order online for pick up at a designated time. Marvellous!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free batter on the fish.

Ive visited this takeaway a number of times and thus it’s time to leave a review. Ordered the fish chips, and peas from the menu. Overall the quality of the food was ok, although the portion size was very large, and it seemed very greasy in the taste buds. Next time I will order the smaller size and thus it will be better value for money. Another point to consider is the place looked like it needed a late spring clean up.

The gluten free night on a Wednesday is amazing. The fish is so lovely, its practically like tempura. No grease at all and the chips are brilliant to boot. I really like this place and they always are polite and friendly.

Disappointingly small fish (for a regular). All was overcooked, but somehow half of the chips were soggy. Ate straight away too so they weren't sat around waiting.

Asked for small fish, beautifully cooked to order. Nice chips too. Cooked in beef dripping as well. Friendly and helpful owner. Only £6.50. Bargain.
