Very cosy place. The room is small but has everything you need, the bathroom is really nice. The food was amazing.Would recommend to everyone to stay here if you visit Castle Combe.

Visited a couple of days post Christmas for lunch with my partner and sadly had a very disappointing experience. I ordered the prawn fishcakes as a starter and my first comment was they were not very warm. A couple of mouthfuls later and I had to return my plate as I bit in to frozen chunks of seafood. When I declined them redoing my starter for me, I was told they would remove it from the bill. That was it, no real apology and no offer of anything to make up for the situation. We continued our meal and then the bill arrived. An optional 10% service charge had been applied but when we went to pay there was no option to remove. Food not at the standard we were expecting based on experiences of other pubs in the chain, and customer service in response to the situation was very poor.

We had a fabulous New Year’s Day lunch at the pub, service and food were amazing and such a relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely place. Nice food. Beds a bit too firm but ok.

Always good to see the operators of the venue reading and responding to these reviews. Means they are customer focussed and interested in getting feedback. This place was great. Warm cosy atmosphere, well appointed accommodation with wonderful valley outlook, great food, and very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

My wife and I dropped in after being passed a Golden ticket discount voucher ! I’ve used this pub several times in the past and the service is always prompt & efficient. This occasion was no different. Unfortunately both of our meals were a disappointment. I opted for the Haddock with thick cut chips. It was literally battered senseless & very dry as were the chips. The mushy peas were scant and also completely dried out. My wife had the steak and said it was very chewy. Our voucher yielded a 20 % discount which I was glad of as the meal was as bad as I can remember from this pub. The two gents serving gave good service so no complaints there. But the food I’m afraid was a big let down.

Booked for our annual ‘between Xmas and new year’ lunch as never been here before and after seeing it was a Butcombe pub was really looking forward to it. Location is good, it’s a really hidden away pub. It’s called the Quarrymans due to the vicinity of the many local quarries nearby and inside has a lot of pictures which is quite interesting. The view from the dining room shows a really good view of the hillside.Parking at the pub is quite plentiful. However it was pretty much full when we arrived and there were nowhere near the amount of customers in the pub as there were cars in the carpark so assume people use the carpark to park for dog walks etc.Menu choice is pretty much the same across all Butcombe pubs but with a few variances. Unfortunately my partners starter came out cold and when she actually had some from the middle of it she had a crunch and it was still frozen inside. The staff were apologetic but although offered to not charge us, they didnt actually offer anything else I.e a complimentary drink or anything which we felt was a bit off. My starter was good and the presentation tbh of both starters was really good (just a shame one of them wasnt fully defrosted!).My main course was the sausage pinwheel which was ok but there was too much of the mustard sauce and it said it came with bubble & squeak but tbh it just looked like mashed carrot. My partner had the pie of the day which was vegetarian I believe which was butter bean and vegetarian chorizo which was really tasty. The chips were really good too.Overall we were disappointed, we went to the Northey Arms in Box last year which is nearby and we wished we had booked again as the food and whole atmosphere was way better. Real shame as was looking forward to the lunch but was very disappointing. One other thing is it’s not cheap at all. We had 2x pints and 2 glasses of wine one starter (would have been 2 if it hadn’t been frozen) and two main courses and it was £80. They apply a 10% service charge to the bill that they never gave us the option to pay or not and based on our experience we definitely didn’t feel it was worth it.Will we be back god no, definitely not for food but maybe might pop in for a drink.

**BE WARE** the fish and chips is to die for. Supper crisp batter, very light and the fish was cooked to perfection. Also very nice on tap real ales.

Ate lunch here with friends.Super friendly staff, great food.Dropped a star due to grim, mouldy smelling toilets that were also freezing cold.

We visited a couple of times for dinner. The menu choice was good and the food was absolutely delicious. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. In the summer months there would be spectacular views from the outside tables! Unfortunately it was raining when we were there.Parking at the pub can be very difficult, and the pub is in a slightly tricky location (up a steep single-track road).Beware that the pub sometimes has live music, so if that's not your thing then you may need to avoid it. It can also get quite crowded and noisy.

The evening meal was just like an old episode of faultTowers. The restaurant was far too busy for the number of staff, and the staff were young and inexperienced, struggling to cope. On arrival we were pointed to our table by one of the bar staff. We waited a while for a waitress to appear, and ordered drinks. When we started to wonder where the drinks were, we eventually spotted them on the bar, and I collected them myself. This was the routine for the evening, wait , and then wait some more. When the starter arrived for my partner, it was almost thrown on to the table. To compound the problem, the hanger steak was tough. A very disappointing evening.

Arrived at this lovely pub after a day at Wincaton races at 5pm for just one night. Roads are pretty narrow but SatNav got us there. Parking was tricky as car park was full on arrival but managed to park on the road. Staff was great. Complimentary Prosecco was a lovely touch. Room was great as was check in and staff. Booked in for an evening meal. Lovely table in the snug. Food, wine and beer all delicious ? Bed was comfy though the walls are quite thin but sleep well nonetheless. The only negative was the breakfast. There was no cereal, yogurt or juice. And they had run out of eggs and hash browns. So limited choice. What we did have was very nice but I did miss the eggs.

We booked in for dinner and did indeed have a wonderful dinner. The food was lovely and the staff were super helpful but they were just run ragged as there was another big booking, so service was slow. We really enjoyed our experience though and would happily recommend it.
