We hadn't been for years but heard it had changed hands. Beautiful cosy interior and the food was exceptional. The staff were super friendly. We will be regulars now! We'll maybe even have our works Christmas meal there too.

The Forester is a really comfortable, well furnished pub/restaurant in a very pretty part of the world. The range of food on the menu is huge and cooked in an unashamedly English country tradition but to a very high standard.I had Liver and bacon, with bubble and squeak and perfectly steamed greens were tied together with a red wine gravy that you would expect to pay a lot more for. Two of our party had the 2-course 'light lunch' option for £15.99 which was excellent value, featuring dishes from the full menu in slightly smaller portions, and cooked to the same high standard.Friendly and efficient service on top of all of this, we will definitely be returning....

Stopped half way on a long dog walk after this was recommended by a friend, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Recommend the ploughman's ?

Lovely old pub with good food, lots of character and a warm welcome. We were walking so we were very pleased to see the sign welcoming muddy boots (and dogs).

My wife and I had a last minute hankering for a Sunday roast and managed to get a table at The Forester’s at short notice. Early table (12:00) so no issues over availability and quickly seated with drinks order taken. We have always found Jonathan, Ronnie and the team attentive with good service being our normal experience here. The roast dinners were magnificent, generous portions with plenty of meat (1 duo of beef and lamb & 1 single lamb) that was melt in the mouth tender with proper gravy. Veggies were crisp, fresh and cooked just right and with great crunchy roast potatoes.Would not hesitate to return as feel that the service, quality of the food and its preparation all give great value for money. Can you find cheaper, yes…but you won’t get the quality on your plate as you do at The Forester.

Seven of us visited for Sunday lunch. The experience from start to finish was horrendous. Firstly, we arrived at 12:30 and we were all looking forward to a nice beef roast but the beef was not on the menu that day. They had beef brisket but they were not willing to put the beef brisket on the roast menu so between us we settled for lamb, pork and chicken. The lamb was so fatty it was unedible the pork was better but nothing which warranted 25 pound per a roast. The rest of the roast wasn't any better it consisted of a few spring greens and three bland roast potatoes. All 7 of us decided to comment. Clearly we were not listened too and the waitress literally said I don't care about your meat because I'm a vegetarian. So we tried another waitress who then said we could have two free desserts baring in mind, this was between seven people. The lead booker didn't fancy the dessert so I said could she have a glass of wine instead and unbelievably the bill came at the end and they charged for the wine the person who did have their dessert said it was very poor and tasteless and to end all matters. Throughout the meal we did not get offered water once we had to ask for every drink and when the drinks did come, they were just placed at the far end of the table rather than to the person who ordered the drinks .I would avoid at all costs you would get a better roast and service at your local wetherspoons.

Had a disappointing experience at The Foresters due to poor management in the absence of Ronnie and Jonathan. The fire alarm sounded during our rare meet-up, adding chaos to the situation. On top of that, the lemonade syrup had run out, making the drink unpleasant. I recommended The Foresters to my friends, but the experience left me embarrassed. Asked for the drink to be removed from the bill, as suggested by a friendly lady serving us. However, the guy at the bar was extremely rude, refusing to address the issue and even rejecting cash payment. It's a shame because the lady was lovely and understood the situation, but the overall experience has left me with no intention of returning.

Really amazing find for our weekend away. Nice, chilled atmosphere, great service and an awesome Sunday roast (we're still full)! Highly recommend.

A great pub. You get a warm welcome as soon as you enter. Food delicious, all home made, with plenty of choice, dogs welcome and the atmosphere is perfect.Prices are realistic and not stupidly expensive.Highly recommended.

The building it's self is lovely! But if you don't mind preheated and premade also salty food also over priced ... Then is is the place to go! It's not a drinking pub it's a food pub. Some people enjoy the land lord and lady having a good old chat with the costumer's but others would just like to go for a quiet meal!

Enjoyed a fabulous visit to The Forester with friends this evening (Saturday 13th January). The food was exquisite (I had the beef and pancetta cottage pie and the cheesecake), the menu catered for the vegetarian/vegans in the group, and the general ambience was friendly and welcoming. This was my second visit to The Forester and I’ll definitely be back.

Extremely welcoming, great food, reasonably priced. A proper pub with history, would 100% return.
