The Lamb hosted our wedding party for two nights at the end of August and the accommodation and service couldn't have been better. The team were brilliant from start to finish - very communicative, allowing us to book all the rooms and reserve spots for dinner. The rooms are beautiful and very well catered with thoughtful amenities and our wedding guests had a fantastic weekend. Thanks for making it so special!

We have visited The Lamb on several occasions & you will see from a previous review that we really liked it! Unfortunately on this occasion we were very disappointed, The Roast dinner was swimming in gravy which was extremely salty, the beef was tough and full of gristle , the potatoes hard and the cauliflower cheese didn’t taste of cheese! My Mum had the pie which was ok but the vegetables & potatoes served with it were cold , the Burger that my husband had was so over cooked it was rubbery and was nothing like the description on the menu and the chips he described as having been reheated several times! Our friend who is 95 had the scallops which was a starter portion so not going to be huge but again not great , she said they were chewy because they were over cooked and the portion even for a starter was ridiculously small!! We decided to try puddings after a disappointing lunch & to be fair the chocolate fondant was nice, but our friend decided on the Hindon mess, (Eton mess) and I think it had maybe 2/3 probably frozen strawberries as very squishy in it , very little meringue and basically a glass full of cream! She couldn’t eat it & that’s the first time I’ve ever seen her leave a pudding! & just to finish things off we ordered two black coffees which were so bitter & strong they were hard to drink, & when we got the bill they were listed as large , they didn’t even fill the small cup. As you can probably tell we really didn’t enjoy our meal, but didn’t make a fuss at the time as we were treating our elderly guests & it was embarrassing as we’d chosen to eat here. Its not a cheap place to eat so you expect a lot better than this?? As I said at the start we’ve eaten here several times and it’s been lovely, so we were extremely disappointed, New Chef?? or just a bad day?? Don’t know but after such a bad meal I don’t think we will be back ?

This is a very friendly, amenable and comfortable hotel with an excellent chef, restaurant and breakfast. Room was super comfy with all mod cons and a luxury feel to it, all set in a sweet, country village yet near the main roads.

What a great place!!! Stopped off for a drink and the place is just beautiful, the old fashion style is great and cosy, the layout of mixture of table styles and fireplaces is perfect!!! Well we had a drink we looked at the menu and decided to return the next day for dinner we booked at table and let them k ow we would be ordering the 32oz steak ? When we returned the staff greated us politely and friendly as the day before!! We were taken to our seat, we ordered drinks and our dinner. The food was amazing!! All plates were empty the flavours in the steak were perfect so good we ate it between 3 of us, myself my husband and our 10 year old son, even the 6 year old had to try it and loved it!! As well as the steak we ordered the gammon egg and chips for our 6 year old she asked for bread to dip in her egg and they got her some!! The staff were great, and their customer service impeccable!! Especially the 2 managers we delt with 2 over the 2 visits!! They couldn't do enough to help and make us feel welcome!! If in the area again, we will definitely return and highly recommend it to everyone!!!!

I booked a surprise birthday lunch for my husband at The Lamb. Unfortunately he went off somewhere not realising and was an hour and a half late. The staff were amazing about this and kept us supplied with drinks and snacks while we waited and brought out the children’s meals early. The food was delicious. We’ve eaten twice here now and it is now one of the best pubs around. Newly refurbished and with a whole new menu. Definitely worth a visit and one of the best meals I’ve had

Enjoyed a family meal here. Staff welcoming and friendly and ensured we had everything we needed for a baby. Food was really good and well presented. Finished the night with some drinks outside. The following day we also enjoyed drinks in the beer garden across the road.

One day B&B and supper a last minute booking - Staff friendly , all food great - highlight breakfast bun and full English . Room quirky and fun - would come back . Close to lots of attractions . So if you are visiting Salisbury/ Longleat/Stourhead stay !

Everything you’d want from a pub, great food, my steak was yummy, service with a smile, friendly people and a gorgeous quaint room with a comfy bed. Wonderfully dog friendly. Limited WiFi but that’s not a bad thing for a night over.

Lovely place. Really lovely staff too, changing our room to a quieter one without hesitation or hitch. The scotch egg with watercress pesto sounds a bit pretentious but in reality was spot on too.Wld recc.

It was absolutely perfect: what more does a weary traveller with the homeward blues want than perfectly cooked comfort food ( sausages and onion gravy - yum!) and a cozy bed in a traditional English pub equipped with Youngs bitter? And all followed by a good scary axe border movie on Sky ( remember to get the pin so you can watch ) to send us off to sleep. Perfection!

We took an accidental divert and realised we were in Hindon at around lunchtime and decided that that The Lamb might be a good place to stop for Lunch. With the exception of dessert everything was fine. We both had the Bread and Butter pudding and there was a huge delay and we were advised there had been a problem and they were remaking it, further delay ensued and eventually desserts were served and I have to say they were the worst Bread and Butter puddings we have ever had, I am not sure why but they came out as a glutinous mass which was close to being inedible. This was a huge disappointment as we had actually stayed here in the past and food and accommodation were excellent

Sunday lunch at The Lamb and a first-time visit. Just the two of us but a nice table round the corner, hidden from the bar so we couldn't see much activity but nice and quiet all the same. Pretty conventional menu for a Sunday lunch but then that was what we came for. My daughter had the beef and I had the pork - both were excellent, with the customary oversized Yorkshire pudding. We also had the local ale and weren't disappointed. The highlight though was dessert. Bread and butter pudding looked heavy but wasn't and the sticky toffee pudding was pretty much perfect - good heat, good flavour, good texture, and good ice cream. A shame that the open fire had gone out in the main bar but it wasn't a cold day. And full marks for the entertainment, in the form of a cheerful waitress very much in the mould of Julie Walters. We managed to resist the soup - maybe next time!

Oldy worldly inn and restaurant. Very obliging staff, very willing to help with our cases as we we would have found it difficult getting them upstairs to the bedrooms. Even the chef! Excellent food and service. Room 7 has a very uneven and slopping floor, things tended to roll off the bedside tables and chest of drawers !

Just popped in for a Sunday lunch as passing through! It looked a bit posh but didn’t want to go elsewhere! My goodness am I glad we stayed although quite expensive at £22 each it was delicious and worth every penny! I had the strip loin and my husband the belly pork! He said his crackling although quite salty was perfect! The vegetables were cooked to perfection, roast potatoes, red cabbage, green cabbage, root mash, whole roasted carrots and the biggest Yorkshire pudding ever! Will definitely be back!
