We booked lunch and when we arrived the pub had about 8 people in it, no music or atmosphere and the two poor girls behind the bar were so embarrassed. We asked them why it was so quiet and they said they had lost the music licence so couldn’t play it. They offered us a table upstairs but we would be the only people up there! In the end they recommended another pub to eat at and we cancelled our booking.

I had my baby shower at the market inn, I reserved part of the upstairs where I could have a table. They let me put balloons up and decorate as I pleased. I ordered lots of starters as nibbles and they were lovely! Great customer service from Ellie and Darcie. Thank you!

Booked online & asked to be seated upstairs. Arrived to find we had been allocated a table downstairs but was told we could choose a table upstairs, which only had 3 tables occupied. Not sure why they had ignored what we requested but hey ho. Had to order food from the bar downstairs. One person ordered mixed grill but was told the didn’t have enough bits to make up a mixed grill! We ordered food: Steak - fine Mushroom Wellington pie - nice (veg overdone but hot) Hunters chicken - overcooked Portions were small. Wine choice basic. We didn’t have enough cutlery & had to ask for it. We didn’t have enough serviettes & had to ask for them. Apart from putting plates on the table there was no service. Not one smile anywhere. No one asked if the food was ok. We were looking at desserts when a member of staff came up & asked if we were looking at desserts. We said, yes. He said don’t bother, the kitchen is closed!!! Literally like that, no apology. It wasn’t even 8.30 & no one had mentioned the kitchen was closing early - 22/12 (Friday before Xmas). It would have taken nothing to come & ask if we planned dessert BEFORE the kitchen closed. Especially as they were not very busy. Chairs were uncomfortable and the atmosphere really poor. No Xmas feel at all. Next door was absolutely heaving (we hadn’t been able to get a table) but The Market Inn was, let’s say, not. I can see why. Staff need some customer service training. Place needs a make over. We would not return. Shame as a lovely old building.

We ordered a veggie and beef roast that were delicious. The staff Ellie and Darcie were very pleasant and professional and brought us some extra gravy when we asked for it.The chocolate brownie with cookie dough ice cream was the best I ever eaten. We’ll be sure to come back on our next visit to Salisbury.
Took 5 minutes for someone to come speak to us and then once sat at the table we were told someone would come to take our drink order in 2 minutes... 30 minutes later and still no one arrived however plenty of people around us had their orders taken and their food served, even though one table was seated after us they still had drinks and food ordered and served in that time. Tried to catch a staff members eye but no avail. When leaving the member of staff behind the bar was rolling themselves a cigarette. Very disappointed as the food looked and smelled lovely.

Decided on this place for a spot of lunch with my other half whilst out Christmas shopping and was completely disappointed! The woman behind the bar was rude and quite obviously didn’t want to be there! Ordered food and when it arrived we were beyond shocked! I ordered the lasagna only for it to turn up looking like soup and when I questioned the waiter on why it was swimming in water he told me that it was ment to be like that! Absolutely vile needless to say it wasn’t eaten! Definitely won’t be back!

Booked a table and found they never had our booking but managed to get a table. Order our food and drink via the app, had to opt for a 2nd choice as my first was not available. Waiter came out and told me they never had my 2nd choice so had to opt for something else of the same value. Food arrived but some of the order was missing and no staff around to complain. A massive chest freezer was clearly visible with the chef coming out to grab food now and then. I would not recommend eating here but a great place to grab a drink. A pity as it looked like such a nice place
