Food was great and there was a good choice of vegetables. I wasn’t impressed with the decor or the furnishings. Our table was wobbly and had a beer mat stuffed under one of the legs, the chairs were ripped and peeling and highly uncomfortable. I understand that it’s a busy place, but when you’re a party of four, cramped in the corner opposite a party of about 12, it feels really claustrophobic.

Overall we really enjoyed our Sunday dinner at the Defford Arms. I had prebooked us a table so we could secure a table - only to be found we were put in a fairly cramped corner by the door with really uncomfortable seats which didn’t make the meal the most pleasing experience. The food was great for the price and really tasty. Overall I would recommend going for their food but hopefully next time we are offered a more pleasant place to sit to enjoy our food as no one enjoys being too cramped up whilst eating. I would have given the 4th star if the seating situation was better.Food & drinks: Great value for food and drink

Was driving through and needed a pit stop and Sunday carvery and Google maps brought up the Defford Arms. Carvery stops at 6pm on Sunday like most places around here by the looks of it.Cosy pub, friendly and the carvery meat and veg selection was superb.Da iawn.

We turned up late afternoon on Sunday, having not booked, they squeezed us in when they were clearly very busy. The food was great, huge selection of veg for the carvery. Puddings of cheesecake and brownies, were also lovely! We will definitely be back!"

We had our first Sunday carvery yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. Choice of 4 meats which were moist and tasty and such a huge choice of veg. All piping hot and delicious! I would say it's the best carvery I've had in a very long time. Deserts were also great as was the service! Will definitely be back for both the carvery again and to try the main menu! Recommended!

Good food, visited for a Carvery, always plenty of hot, fresh cooked vegetables and a choice of meats. Great menu if not wanting carvery. Free car park adjoining the pub. Advisable to book as very popular.

Lovely food, staff are very friendly accommodating staff. We went for the fish and chips (2 for £20) which was lovely and a great portion size. We will definitely be back!

Food was nice and carvery had a lot of choice. However the service let it down, especially the blonde young girl who clearly has no manners or people skills. Coming over to our table and saying ‘can you go get your carvery now’ is apparently the way this pub speaks to customers, bearing in mind they had only just cleared our starters. Then when my friend hurts herself due to broken furniture, she walks past and smirks/snickers at her instead of asking if she’s ok. Disgusting attitude. Would not Recommend this pub at all.

We had the evening festive menu last night and WOW. All three course were beautiful - as always the best food at the Defford!! Thank you to the lovely staff who looked after us and the chef who cooked a delicious meal for our Christmas gathering!
