Went for sunday lunch a week ago. The beef was quality, the roast potatoes were done really really well (crunchy, not soggy or too dry, and were coated with herbs, which was nice), decent roasted reg, and some really, truely amazing stuffing. Yorkshire lacked crunch but still had good flavour, so I coped. All in all, it was a high-effort roast by the Royal Oak and worth the money.Hospitable service. Good food and atmosphere.

Booked in for Sunday lunch and sat down to be told several items including the only vegan option not available. Fortunately there was a vegetarian option, this and meat roast could be best described as mostly edible. Wished we had left rather than chancing it. Discount was offered and gratefully received.

Went for a steak for Valentines day. The service was excellent. The steak was absolutely perfect and so tender. We will go again. Ps dessert was delicious

Ate here last night with friends. Two members of staff to cover the bar and restaurant and service was poor, food mediocre, tasted like it'd all been pre cooked and heated up again. The cod was surrounded in a huge amount of tomato style sauce, sprouts hadn't been prepared properly. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

Booked table for 12 mid day as going to panto at 2 9 at the table 2 kids .Werent told on booking it wd only be festive lunch .Not ready to start serving at 12 as staff didnt seem to be in .Food was very poor veg over cooked ,turkey ok .but not worth money had to have 2 courses which some of us didnt want .Staff were quite disorganised !!! Wouldnt visit again .

Thought we would give it a try to support new businessBooked for an evening meal weeks before,when we got there told it was only Christmas menu ,seating was terrible there was a draft in one seat .,Food arrived bland Turkey with very cold potatoes and not much veg and very watery gravy .pudding lemon roulade served with still frozen fruit .Wine served in beer glasses and brandy in a whisky glassBill was all wrong they had added 2 more bottles of wine on itWaited over half hour for them to come and receive paymentYoung lady serving meal was very efficientBut we will not be back

Great Sunday roast here and dog friendly.Edit: Nov 2023 - after two recent visits here it's fair to say the quality of the food has fallen dramatically. Would not recommend currently.

Saturday evening visit, ate in the restaurant. Friendly staff and excellent service. Good value food and it was served quickly and piping hot. I had the pie which was lovely.... The mash, veg and gravy were a bit average, I'd make better at home. But overall, a good experience.... More pub grub than restaurant quality.

Went when we heard about new menu. Went at lunchtime. Enjoyed 2 lots of 3 tapas for £12 for 3 of us. Good value, good portion size, delicious. Nice eating area at rear. Only reason not 5 stars is poor table service. Had to ask if we needed to order at bar or at table. Told table service but no one came even though we were seen by several staff. In the end had to catch someone's attention. Food did come in a reasonable time and staff did check all was OK. Would go again and try evening menu.
