Disappointing overall but prices are very reasonable for some items. It would help if there was a sign on arriving saying that it is counter service. We stood to the side for a while expecting to be seated as in the previous cafe. Nice and airy room but rather lacking in atmosphere. They have tried to brighten it up with rather revolting garish artificial flowers on the table which I moved off. Tasty carrot soup but one of us had to ask for it to be reheated. Sausage in a roll very enjoyable. Houlloumi salad was meant to be with lettuce and tomato. No tomato on roll, had to be asked for and presented chopped into pieces in a small bowl, better presentation would have helped. Also the lettuce was disgusting, a thick piece of the outer leaf of the vegetable, very off putting. Overall I am not sure if I would visit again except for just tea/coffee as the cakes looked good and good value. How can such an establishment which is newly opened with a lot of money be this disappointing. The staff could also have been a little more welcoming although the lady with the longer hair in plaits was very pleasant. Come on Malvern, don't let us down. Such a well known and well visited theatre with a lot of money recently put into it, why hasn't a little more been spent on this area. I am disappointed in myself having to write these comments.

As a visitor to Malvern I decided to have lunch at The Scene, I ordered a vegan falafel salad. A few bites into the salad I noticed a caterpillar crawling out from the lettuce. I did not want to cause a fuss so tried to discreetly return the salad to the counter, the waiter apologised and I tried to make light of it. I was offered another salad but feeling quite sick turned it down. He asked if I wanted something else I didn’t. I wasn’t offered a refund which wouldn’t been the first thing I would do in that situation. Despite me making light of it I was upset by this I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. However I was more concerned by the reason that I was given ‘we buy the lettuce leaves in and don’t need to wash them’ Anyone that has been involved in catering knows the importance of washing leaves. It’s concerning that everyone eating here is eating unwashed leaves. I did contact them via a form on the Theatre page but it’s been over a week and no reply.

It's good, a great little restaurant attached to Malvern Theatre with a good innovative menu and good service. Recommended.

Called to book a table and told the restaurant was full but the bistro didn’t take bookings so we could just come in and find a table. Arrived at 10 past 1 for a 2.30 performance. No tables and a 96 year old mother having difficulty standing. Managed find her a chair and ordered three salads at 20 past 1. They didn’t arrive. And didn’t arrive. At 2.00 husband checked if we had been forgotten. How long does it take a well staffed kitchen to assemble salad. The food arrived at 13 past 2. We bolted it and got into our seats at 2.32. A thoroughly unpleasant experience all round. Poor Mums Christmas present so shame on you, Malvern Theatre.

Pat and our daughter had mid morning drinks. After three of us had enjoyed the Morgan experience we met Pat and Helen for more drinks. It was quite busy with some people eating outside. All very relaxing and pleasant.

we booked a meal (for 2) before the evening theatre 17 January 2023. The main course was fish (rolled in pancetta) and vegetables. whereas the food looked OK, it was bizarre! It must have been prepared some weeks previously, then heated (sort of) before serving, as some bits were hot, others cold! but the sweet was equally bizarre: a chocolate torte with strawberries. the torte had been frozen, and not thawed. It had the consistency of foam rubber. Inedible (and I did try!!) It intrigues how you would cook something so bad!

Visited with a frind for a light lunch. Staff lovely and helpful. We had homemade tomato soup with granary bread. The soup was delicious but the bread was not as fresh as it should be and it came with some horrible butter substitute, not real butter. If it is a vegan option, we were not asked whether we wanted one. The resaurant is light and airey but all the hard surfaces mean there is little to cushion sound and the pop type background musak is completely unnecessary and only makes hearing eachother more difficult. Background music not wanted ot needed!

We decided to meet here with friends. The noise coming frome the coffee grinders and the milshake makers was such that it was impossible to have a discussion. We had to go outside. Incidentally, the choice of cakes/viennoiseries to have with your coffee is very limited. A pity because the coffee is good and the setting quite pleasant.

Visited on a sunny day so we were able to sit outside with our refreshments. This was made very tricky as it was deemed to be ‘winter’ so the main doors to the outside tables were locked and it was necessary to navigate through about three sets of heavy doors while manoeuvring with a loaded tray. It is pretty standard these days that cafes keep non dairy milks. However it not standard, in my experience, to charge extra for a small quantity of liquid. 30p each? When you can get a litre carton (lasts about a week in a fridge) for less than a pound. No discount for the cows milk that I didn’t want.....?

Table booked for 1.15pm, food arrived at 2pm. The show started at 2.30pm. When the food arrived, it was certainly not worth the 45 minute wait. The strangest Chicken Caesar Salad I have ever had and my husband's burger was not totally cooked. Staff were very apologetic about the wait but the reason for eating there is convenience for the theatre and it was a rush in the end.
