My wife and I had Sunday lunch in this lovely country pub which was very warm and clean with a great pint of beer and pleasant wine. The landlady was very friendly, welcoming who I believe was the chef for our meal which was served just as we like it. Good quality lanb and vegetables cooked as we like it at home not mass produced frozen food from a wholesaler and reheated in a microwave. Keep up the good work we will return.

Staying in the area for a few days, we were recommended The Drum and Monkey and duly visited. Large sign outside reading “Best Pub for Miles” so we were hopeful. What a disappointment. No welcome by the staff, a couple of locals at the bar and someone yelling on the phone. The pub resembled a Welsh tearoom and was cold. Eventually got served and no problem with the drinks ordered. Simple menu on a board on the bar but no others in sight. Would not recommend.

I attended a motorcycle rally and club AGM, perfect venue and camping facilities for it.

Lady at bar had a negative attitude, popped in to ask to use the bathroom but nobody was at the bar so had to look for it myself, I came out the toilet and the lady gave me a disgusting look and said with an impolite manner to “ask before you come in”, really could’ve had a nicer attitude with her customer service even though I was polite towards her, unprofessional and rude, did not feel welcome whatsoever.

The food was diabolical. My husband could not cut through his burgers which they did replace however he didn't eat them as he has dementia and was pretty upset by then they did refund his money which was kind however my chips looked as if they were well past there best again they did replace however by then they whole experience was spoiled as this was visit out with my husband for a while and it was spoilt the lady who was serving was very nice but I did feel very sorry for her......does the chef not want to send food out that he would like to eat.....very disappointed as it was a day we were very much looking forward to. Will not be returning.

Myself and my husband were staying in the area for the weekend and visited this pub on the Friday night. The landlady was welcoming and friendly and the food was brilliant. My husband had a pie and I had homemade lasagna, we both had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert. Every bit was delicious. Thank you! If ever we found ourselves in the area again we would definitely return.

Appalling service from the bar maid. During serving us she went and picked up the telephone to make a call and then started to tidy tables whilst on the phone. When asking what rose they had, she rose her voice to say what she had and then slammed the drinks on the bar. When asked to order food, she said we would have to wait as there was table that needed serving before us. After this terrible service we decided against ordering food and even the table waiting before us had their drinks and left without ordering their food.
