Great pub but unfortunately run by a very unprofessional front of house team.

Just called for a lunchtime pint - never felt so unwelcome, anywhere. The barmaid was unsociable to the point of being rude. Walked out.

Polite, friendly staff. Service excellent and food delicious. Relaxed atmosphere and both my friends and I enjoyed our long lunch, catching up on life's events.

Lovely family meal at the Swan. I had booked online and listed that it was a birthday and when we arrived they had placed a 'happy birthday' sign on the table with free chocolates, plus a free chocolate brownie for my partner whose birthday it was! A nice surprise and would definitely recommend going here for a special occasion.

Although the 3 of us had a booking we were not greeted on arrival and had to attract the attention of bar staff to say we had arrived. The service was very slow. It took nearly 1 hour 45 minutes for a main course and a pudding with no starter or coffee. The vegetables were only lukewarm. The roast lamb was too well done for my liking and no choice of well or rare was offered. The blackcurrant sorbet was tasteless and had the consistency of ice cream. It was difficult to get the bill when we were ready to leave. All in all a disappointing experience.

The food at the Swan is ok, but not good enough to offset the poor service - inexperienced, sullen staff who don't seem to be getting adequate training and who seem overstretched and unhappy. It's a shame as it could be a great experience.

Delicious food. Great service. Fantastic venue. It's not the first time we've been. Won't be the last time, either.

Always a great meal at The Swan, staff are all friendly and accommodating. Nothing too much trouble.

Loved the Pizza was really nice. Staff were very pleasent Disappointed that service charge was add to the bill instead of allowing us to decide what our visit was worth. We were not made aware that this would be added.

Reasonably quiet lunchtime. Staff polite, food plentiful but it seemed that everyone was given a table in one area so it was a bit noisy with plenty of phones ringing!!

Lovely food, great service. Would certainly rebook again for breakfast.

Really disappointing. Have eaten here many times and unfortunately it seems to be going downhill from what was once a great place to eat. Despite it being really quiet, we waited 40 minutes for our food. When we asked for sauces and a pizza cutter which was missing for my sons meal, we waited a further 10 minutes for sauce and the pizza cutter never arrived at all. There were pieces of blue role stuck to one pizza and the ploughman's which I've had previously and enjoyed, looked as though it had been thrown on the plate. Both the scotch egg and the pork pie were warm and the bread wasn't fresh. We did make the girl looking after us aware of the issues and she did speak to the manager. The manager did not approach us at all but did generously knock a whole £6 off a £100 bill...... All together a really poor experience and won't be going back.

Great evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Delicious food, starters, mains an dessert. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Would definitely recommend.

the food was very good and all the staff friendly and helpful excluding the person who we paid at the end who was very confrontational and dismissive - it is a shame as we could not fault the remainder of the evening with staff working so hard

Compared to the last visit to The Swan at Whittington (3-4 years ago), I left disappointed. The Haddock Goujons (starter) were extremely oily and the batter very thick compared to the size of the fish pieces. I opted for the roast lamb Sunday roast for my main course. The meat was quite grisly and very tough. The roast potatoes were very oily. The selection of side vegetables was massive for 1 person but the presentation was not great. The vegetables appeared to have simply been piled into a dish and were very messy (everything smothered in soggy cauliflower cheese). The staff were pleasant enough but once the mains were brought to the table, we didn't see the staff again. No-one checked to see if we were happy with our food. No-one asked if we wanted more drinks. Once finished, we waited about 15 minutes for the table to be cleared. The bill was provided quite quickly but then no-one came to take payment. The restaurant was extremely hot. Although the air-conditioning unit over the bar/tills was working, the unit in the main restaurant was turned off and all the windows were closed (around 23'C outside).
