I would like to thank The owners of the White Lion Hotel for their hospitality, service and the local people for their hospitality. We called in to watch the rugby and a bite to eat everyone was so nice and friendly, service was second to none. We booked our breakfast the next morning it was so nice Michelle, Michael and family were so accommodating and couldn’t help enough. On leaving we called in to say thanks we were invited back anytime. I would highly recommend the White Lion Hotel in Upton upon Severn a really nice place a lovely scenic area. Thanks to everyone. Francis Murnaghan.Food & drinks: Excellent food and drink. Nothing is a problem I could not recommend the White Lion highly enough. Thanks so much.

Really nice place for a drink. Only down side is that there is always someone vaping. With the smoke going everywhere......Food & drinks: Good choice of wine and Guinness is good.Free vaping smoke next to every table

Food was absolutely dreadful. Goujons of cod were mainly batter. Fish curry thick and gloopy with very little taste, profiteroles contained soured cream. Waitress tried her best and was cheery male sullen and inappropriately dressed. Such a shame as building is lovely. Will not be visiting again.

Vibrant bar, but not overcrowded or too noisy like other local pub bars. Friendly, efficient staff in a pleasant, comfortable and well appointed seating area.

Upton on water 10th JuneWe stayed here as 2 couples, 2 rooms, which were quite pricey, but in a convenient location. It was a red hot day, shorts and t shirts for us men, and our ladies had their dresses on.. Perfect. We went up to our rooms up a very creeky staircase and into our very outdated room, which was red hot and every footstep creeked the floor loudly.. Our room was small, not at all what you would expect for the costly price. Our friends room was on a slant with a bit of a hump across the floor, their deco was like something from a funky scooby doo set.. So anyway we were here, and out for tea we went and a few nice beers and cocktails to follow. When we got back to our room, it was so hot, the heating was on full heat, and we could not turn it off or down as the knobs were missing, so we opened the window and had 2 to 3 hours sleep, but woke up early hours both of us soaked from sweating, due to the heating.. We ended up going outside for a walk to cool off at half five in the morning. I complained to the desk manager at breakfast.. and asked to see the owner.. He sais she was out and took our details, as he agreed about the heating system, as it would not turn off due to it being part of the hot water system, i find that hard to fathem. Breakfast was not fresh and we could over hear the manager talking to the owner in the kitchen.. Who never came out to address us, we wanted a part refund as we only needed a nights sleep, but it was impossible.Even though we left our details to ammend the problem with the owner, she never got back to us.. A week later i rang up and spoke to her, who was very rude and defensive over rhe phone.. I asked her to be fair and understanding, but after about 10 minutes of going no where, she got loud and put the phone down, how rude.. So miving on.. i would and could not say a good word for the run down rooms or ill manered owner, please avoid staying here, as there are plenty of hotels around the town so much better, i have left it until now to give the owner time to reflect on her attitude, the old creeky rooms and compensate us, but no' our friends slept better as their room was cooler but very oddly decorated and would not stay again ever... Such a shame as the town is beautiful. Avoid as it will dissapont

Overnight stay at the White Lion was excellent and expectations as described. Full of the kind of character you would expect in a building of its age. The service from staff was excellent, friendly and nothing too much trouble however the icing on the cake was the meal we ate inthe restaurant. Steaks cooked to perfection, first class and top marks to the chef. Can highly recommend.

Late lunch whilst visiting this lovely town but the chef stayed on for us. Wide selection of food on the menu. Hunters chicken is a favourite of mine. Mushrooms on ciabatta as a small plate. Scampi and a decent pie. Good service and good ales & cider

We needed pet friendly accommodation for an overnight stay and found the White Lion exceeded our needs. We were met by friendly staff, very hardworking, nothing too much trouble. Room was comfortable and reasonably priced. Best decision was to eat at the hotel restaurant. We booked as advised. First class steaks, cooked to perfection. Very hardworking staff team. Top marks to the chef and team. Can highly recommend.

A beautiful old hotel with lovely friendly staff. The restaurant and bar areas are cosy and inviting. The room 102 had a beautiful four post bed with drapes. The room needed a little tender care as the curtains were missing a few rings and the wallpaper was coming away from the wall on the left hand side of the window. There was a stain on the ceiling by the bathroom where I would think there had been a leak from the bathroom above. Tea and coffee were in the room but no bottled water or biscuits. This was an expensive room for the night!(£175) the night before it was only (£140) blues festival was on! Car park at the rear which was helpful! We ate in the restaurant during the evening and the food and service was good. Breakfast in the morning was amazing. ( although they only serve orange juice which my husband can not drink! Bathroom was old and needed redoing ( no shower) Definitely let down by the decor in the room.
