“This place is ridiculously good. It’s most likely the best restaurant in Bedford and probably beyond. I hope the good people of Bedford understand and appreciate what an absolute gem of a restaurant this place is. From the location, to the service, to the food. Every detail has been taken into consideration. It’s extremely rare to find a restaurant which can pull this kind of dining experience off and The Royal Gurkha does it with ease while remaining unpretentious. I highly recommend the Lamb Shank. Absolutely to die for. I fully expect this place to become nationally famous one day.”

“Really good experience. We had heard this restaurant was much improved and that was certainly what we found. The food was slightly different to the regular Indian restaurant fare, much more like Dishoom, with Gunpowder and Railway curries. It was all to a high standard and the chicken was great, which is not always the case with other restaurants. Overall it was a great experience with good service, it just needs more people to go to improve the experience, it’s certainly worth it. Highly recommended!”

“I first went here in 1977. And it became my go to place. Keema peas Vindaloo hot, Tarka daal, 2 chapattis and one rice. All I had to do was call and they wouldn't even wait for the order and just say 15 minutes and throw in half a pint of lager if I had to wait!! Of course I introduced a lot of people to eat here. Some still do.
I live in California now....but this is still my must visit restaurant if I am in Bedford. Good food and good memories.”

“We went on a date to Rice and honestly had such a great time, the wait staff were so tentative and so happy to help, we had some amazing chats with some of the staff, Chap was incredible and gave us everything we needed and helped us with the menu, and Tihir's bright smile and engaging chat really made our time there, couldn't recommend it enough, and that's not even mentioning how great the food was.”

“We really enjoyed the food and ambience at this restaurant, but the service left much to be desired. No one attended to us for quite a while, and it was confusing whether we were supposed to pay in advance or place an order at the table. After several calls and a long wait, someone finally came over.

That said, the food was excellent — the mushroom pasta and grilled chicken were flavorful and perfectly cooked.”

“Excellent service Jay, Rob and the crews service was really warm and welcoming. Hands down best indian in Bedford we had a Tikka mix grill chefs special garlic chilli chicken and lamb jalfrezi reasonably priced atmosphere great thumbs up from us. ??”

Now sit down a grap a bevvy cus this review is banging I ordered the Indian rice and a special korma bhuna (chicken tikka) now let me tell you this I ate it and died………… then was reincarnated in the Taj Mahal with 10 Indian ladies in sari’s fanning me down with fresh lemon tea and massaging my feet with tigers walking around and all kinds of mad stuff WOW it was good don’t be a hater order what I had and leave a review and tell me your opinion cus you ent beating it it was 12.5 out of 10

Free dish was pilau rice come on guys make it some sag or a samosa or something I mean what am I gonna do with that!

So to conclude I always rated the royal Gurkha and as an overall it’s hard to beat but the two dishes mentioned ubove smashed it well down chefs give yourself a pat on your back?”
