This pub is a real gem of a find, service, food and prices are brilliant. Booking advisable as quite a few people know about this place and return frequently I am sure. I know I will be. Lunch time food only but you won’t be disappointed.

Eight family members including my elderly mum, were fortunate enough to have lunch a this wonderful atmospheric pub on Tuesday this week. It was the first time I had visited despite only living a few miles down the road. I don't often write reviews, but this place was so lovely, the place, the staff and the food were 100% spot on, sadly a very rare find these days. The landlord despite being fully booked very kindly managed to add 2 extra family members on to the table. They went out of their way to accommodate my mum who has problems with food and swallowing. The food was all home cooked and absolutely delicious and not overpriced, clean plates all round! I cannot rate it highly enough. We will most certainly become lunch regulars.

Amazing old school pub. So lovely to feel a bit of what old England was built on in a sea of Gastro Pub England. Brilliant people brilliant beer. FULL

Oh my word, what a beautiful meal I had today.Belly pork, ( decent bit of crackling) mash , with Savoy cabbage, thinly sliced ribbons of carrot, garden peas & leeks in a cider cream & shallot sauce. When asked if I wanted a pudding I said If I had room I’d have the belly pork again but as I haven’t I’ll settle for the Bread & butter pudding with cream which was excellent!!!I am from the West Country & travel every 6 weeks to the area with my Wife who is from Stopsley. We were advised to try the food at The Stone Jug & having done so we will again without question.Excellent. Thank you all at The Stone Jug.

Myself and two ex work colleagues meet every 3months'ish for lunch and we like to explore different venues. The Stone Jug was my choice and the minute I walked through the front door I knew I had made a mistake. I had neglected to book and the pub was booked solid for Christmas lunches. I explained my predicament to the landlord who, most apologetically, confirmed he could not find us a table. He then pulled out all the stops to provide us with Turkey sandwiches. His focus on looking after us was absolutely exemplary given that he was in the middle of serving 50+ lunches. I cannot rate his focus on his customers too highly. The sandwiches were excellent as was the choice and quality of his real ales. As we left he said he looked forward to seeing us again, but please could we remember to book!! My answer was yes to both.

I’ve been out a few times recently and just keep being disappointed with the quality of the food, but had heard good things about this place. First visit today and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Only small, so recommend to book (we were here on a Friday) as it was packed for lunch. The specials had unfortunately run out, but we all had the pies and it was delicious. Best food I’ve had in a long time. Even the mug of tea at the end was good! Food home cooked, place had a great atmosphere and the landlord and staff were very friendly. It’s quite a locals pub but we didn’t feel out of place. Good prices as well for the quality and amount that we had. Will definitely now be one of my new go to places to eat.

Great place - we'd not been here for years, but will certainly be returning a lot sooner than that ?

Probably the tastiest pub lunch (at the Stone Jug) that I can remember. The chef is in a class of their own. The chef prepared a salmon main course as well as the cheese cake dessert by hand. The meal was outstanding. The staff were very helpful to squeeze 2 of us in consideration we did not have a reservation. The atmosphere is nice and cosy.I would highly recommend the Stone Jug. It is best to make reservations. The salmon main course consisted of:Pan fried salmonNew potatoesMixed vegetablesWhite wine, cream and prawn sauce. The only drawback is slightly limited parking IMOI definitely plan to visit again especially if the same chef is cooking

Very much a local cosy village pub with a well-kept cellar and plentiful indoor outdoor seating. Didn't eat on this occasion but food is good fr9m previous experience. Friendly, lots of character and children and dogs welcome.Vegetarian options: There are a small selection.Parking: Limited number of spots on site, but friendly locals can advise alternative places.Kid-friendliness: Well behaved children welcome.Wheelchair accessibility: Covered outdoor area for eating and drinking. Think there's ramped access at the rear. Few steps up to the front door access.
