14 of us booked for the 3 course Boxing day menu. The whole experience was a disgrace. There was no atmosphere let alone a Christmas one.The food was hardly edible, barely warm, roast potatoes dry. Although the meals were pre-ordered weeks in advance they still ran out of one of the chosen meals and had to re-choose ie; the lamb shanks x 3 with the reason being there was a delivery problem, as a paying customer this is not our problem. The person in charge was very apologetic and the majority of staff were smiley and quite bubbly. However the young man behind the bar was quite sarcastic in his reply to a question he was asked and his dress code was much to be desired , his trousers were hanging way down his backside where his underpants and the crack in his a**e were clearly visible. This is not the 1st time we have been disappointed here and not what my own family would have chosen due to past experience but did not want to disappoint our very close friends, SO NEVER AGAIN, WHAT A DISGRACEFUL WASTE OF MONEY

Great looking place, staff were really good and very friendly. Nicely decorated with plenty of seating. The food off the main menu looked really good, we had the carvery. It was OK, but not great. For the price it was worth it, buy next time I will most likely stick to the main menu. Don't let it put you off, it's a great place, I have to be honest though, the carvery wasn't for me.

This whole experience here is poor and i’m sitting here now writing this review because i’m just perplexed and the lack of communication and poor service quality that was received by my family and friend.we ordered at the bar and received our drinks with pleasure. the food that was made in the kitchen came and they had almost finished their plates and i waited more than 20 mins for my plate of food.i had to ask another waiter for a status update of the food and he went and instantly brought it out..? i had to ask about my food for it to be brought out the next second? mind you the fries were not hot they were lukewarm and the burger was raw/rare?I didn’t want to assume racism just because we are the only black people here so i just thought is it down to poor service? because other people’s desserts and meals were brought out by the same waiter we asked for status updates from? it just didn’t make sense - why are we waiting longer and being treated as if we don’t matter.but it came to ordering more food like dessert and waited 15 mins for apple crumble..? i don’t understand are we making the apple crumble from fresh? have the apples not yet been cut for cooking..?we were promised it was coming multiple times but asking for a status update didn’t do anything except they were much slower.the food does not look like anything on the menu, emphasis on the homemade. the only thing that was quick was the cocktails but even then they were finished before the food because of how long we waited.the custards for the apple crumble was cold/lukewarm.. i’m not understanding was the stove off whilst we cooked the custard?the whole experience was a negative for me and it’s a shame.

The service was excellent. Bar staff and waitresses friendly and ensured we had an enjoyable festive menu. Food was delicious and look forward to returning in the new year. Thanks to the Managers, bar staff and chef for a lovely afternoon.Parking: Plenty parking facilities

Carvery was nice, however all the accompaniments seemed like they had been sitting there a long time. There were no sauces i.e apple sauce, mint sauce etc as they hadn’t been topped up. Also we weren’t informed what time the kitchen closed so at 945 we were too late to order a dessert which was disappointing.

Wonderful festive meal at the market cross. Food portions very good and flavoursome.Table decorated lovely for the festive season.Only improvement would be to offer drinks at the tables rather then having to go up to the bar, but this was due to low staffing so understandable, so still given full rating as the staff on hand were all very good.

We went there 2 weeks ago, 6 of us in total. This is a great place to eat, decor etc really good also a great atmosphere. The main thing that lets it down is the carvery meat, such a small and thin portion, not worth the money. I get and understand portion control but this was not like other carvery places.

Was greeted and shown where our group was sitting. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. Originally there should have been a few more of us but they were not able to make it. The staff were very accommodating. Food was great as always. Festive menu, starter, main and pudding. We booked last minute for our works Christmas do so was really glad we could be fitted In. Nothing was to much. Table decorations all dolled up for Christmas with crackers. Also was busy but quite enough that we didn’t have to shout over others to be heard. Will definitely be recommending more works dos at the market cross!!

Kate the new manager was very friendly, pleasant over and above service from her.Had to wait a bit for food from the kitchen , NO pouched egg just fried.Busier as getting nearer to Christmas.I think another person behind the bar or in the kitchen may of helped smooth the waiting time.Carvery sadly did not give much meat, to a friends dish, compared to other Carvery’s I’ve visited??Over all food was good value for money, what I had. Gammon, egg, pineapple, tomatoes, peas and thick chips.Sadly the female toilets need a thorough cleaning/modernising. Let the premises down.Would visit again in the Hope a few changes are made.Dietary restrictions: NO SKIMMED MILK , OR LACTOSE FREE MILK (which is what my dietary needs are) OR ALMOND OR SOYA MILK? as an alternativeParking: Great parking.

Lyn was lovely help had a good time food was brilliant exactly what I asked for even the changes got two meals for £60 which is amazing everything was good. (The only thing I didn't like was the toilets they weren't clean there was unknown dirt on the seat.)

We were with a group for a Christmas get together, this is the 3rd or 4th year on the trot we have been there and it has never been brilliant but has been passable. Not our choice to come here. Last year we had chicken burgers and the food was cold, this year we decided to have the carvery. The roast potatoes were solid and couldn't cut them and the food was luke warm at best. One of our group who ordered dessert waited 55 minutes to arrive and this was only after it was chased up at the bar. The lady who came over to us was really rude and her attitude stunk when she asked who was still waiting. If looks could kill.... I appreciate they were busy but the wait at the bar was horrendous, there was just not enough staff and they were not taking any notice of what was happening so plates and glasses weren't cleared. On arrival there was no cutlery on the table although the table was arranged for a group. The salt pot was empty. These are basic things that should be checked. Sorry but we won't be back.

Booked a table on line for the same day and we weren’t disappointed. The staff are friendly, relaxed and chatty. The service was fantastic and the food was presented well and was

Even though we were the first patrons to get our carvery at 12.00pm, the meal was only lukewarm so not that great. We did speak to the Manager who was surprised and would get the food probed but offered us a free dessert on the house which was very kind of her.

Lovely staff, very happy and helpful. Food was delicious, and table was cleared as soon as they saw we were finished. Had a lovely evening.

Welcomed by very friendly staff who obviously enjoy their work.Quiet Monday night so we had to go in search of someone to carve our meat but once found, our plates were full including the biggest Yorkshire pudding I had ever seen. Great value. Very
