Good atmosphere with ample parking at the back. Ordered pizza from the kids menu, was given a frozen store bought deep pan one. The beer battered fish and chips were good however the steak was not upto scratch.

UpdatedI've visited twice recently, food really isn't special and the waitress today was very grumpy and rude.

We wanted somewhere new to meet as a family and celebrate a relative’s birthday. We had driven past the Farmer’s Boy on a regular basis, but had never been there, so decided to give it a try. We were so pleased we did. What a great experience. The food was really good - it was a Sunday so there were 5 or more options for a roast dinner, but which also could be ordered in different sizes. The portions were extremely generous so no-one went hungry! The optional Cauliflower Cheese (extra cost) could easily have been shared by four as a side dish. In addition to the roasts, there was a good selection of fairly traditional pub food, including liver & bacon and fish & chips. The pudding selection was also good and again the portion sizes were generous. The service was excellent with very polite, engaging and cheerful staff and the environment was clean, tidy and well maintained. We really enjoyed our visit and, if the number of people coming and going during our time there is any indication, it is a very popular venue with the locals. One interesting element I have not seen before was the copious number of board games available to play whilst visiting. Our table had a Bond themed Trivial Pursuits game which we enjoyed whilst waiting for our food.Overall, for six of us, the cost was just over £150. This was for two courses and a drink, and was very reasonable given the generous portion sizes. We’ll definitely be going there again and would highly recommend it.Parking: Off street parking behind the pub - bit of a pothole as you turn off the road, hit nothing too serious.

This pub had been recommended to us for Sunday roast. Very friendly staff, family and dog friendly pub. Busy every Sunday according to staff, very busy when we visited. Decent choice of draught ales. Roast beef and lamb chosen, both were very average. Not enough vegetables, no seasoning. Potatoes solid, parsnips pale. Meat over cooked. Dessert good, sticky toffee pudding. We wouldn't visit again for Sunday roast, but pub is obviously very popular

Hadn’t been here for a while as it’s a bit out of our way. Lovely warm greeting from behind the bar as we arrived. The food was every bit as good as it was the last time and there is a good choice of well kept Fullers beers. Great idea with the menu offering medium or large plates. Won’t be so long before we return next time.

First time visiting this pub and my gf hadnt been here for some years. We tried Sunday lunch, luckily we booked as it was rammed! We were served quickly, and enjoyed some of the books left on the windowsill. Once our order was taken it was about a 20minute wait. That's to be expected for a small pub. The wait was worth it. One of the best Sunday roasts I've had. Hats off to the staff and landlord. Keep it up, we will be back!
