This is an old building so not accessible at all for wheelchairs. Luckily I can get in and out of mine and up the odd step or two. There are 2 sets of steps inside to the upper dining area and it would be a big help if one of these was a slope. Food good but I preferred it when it was independent.Wheelchair accessibility: Don't bother, it was hard work.

Had a poor roast dinner here today. Most of it was cold apart from the short rib. Pigs in blankets were under cooked along with the dry roast potato’s. Yorkshire pudding was also extremely dry. The short rib was fantastic tho! My friend was also served pork when he specially told the staff he cannot have pork due to religious reasons. We wouldn’t come again sadly

We booked a table but when we arrived were told there were none available. We were offered table service in the bar section and then mostly ignored for the night, having to waive down staff to clear our plates 20mins after finishing and ordering drinks and dessert at the bar as no one came by to check or take orders. Even after ordering dessert at the bar, we were apologised to as they'd forgotten to pass the order to the kitchen.The food was good, and would probably be a recommendation on a night when there's enough staff to adequately cover the restaurant.

Came here on a weekend evening at 6 pm. The pub got no food no snack and kitchen closed so early. Better to avoid.

We booked a table to have a family lunch at the George on Christmas eve. Though not everything went according to plan the food was very well cooked and tasty. Our waitress was exceptional at looking after us. Izzy made us very welcome, sorted out issues quickly and without fuss. She pre-empted any complaint and arranged a discount on the bill before we even thought about it. Well done Izzy and thank you.

Dinner with a group of friends to celebrate the festive season (although none of us had the festive menu). Our main waiter was Jack. He was very attentive and professional. Kat took over from him and she was equally as lovely. The food and drink orders taken as required and time for service was fine. Our food was hot and tasty with large portions. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Will certainly visit again.

Visiting The George this Christmas was truly incredible. From the moment we came through the door, the festive spirit was tangible. The venue was beautifully decorated, the table settings, complete with seasonal place cards and gentle candlelight, set the stage for what was to be a truly marvellous dining experience. They also had a varied menu, attentive to both vegetarians and meat-eaters.The standout was definitely the turkey, which was cooked to tender perfection. The selection of vegetables, including roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts and honey roasted carrots and parsnips, complemented the meal well, along with excellent Yorkshire puddings.Our waitress, Ekatt, deserves a special mention for her outstanding service, ensuring our experience was enjoyable and smooth. It was a Christmas meal that captured the season's spirit thanks to great food and service at The George.It will be a Christmas meal to remember. Thank you so much.

Probably the worst meal myself and family have ever had. Yorkshire pudding over cooked fell to bits as you cut into it roast potatoes over cooked. Vegetarian gravy very salty and congealed in pot only way to get it out was with a knife. Burger was cold and tasted unpleasant. Also, to add insult to injury we were given the bill for another table which was twice what we should have paid. Only resolved when we queried why we were being charged for items we hadn’t consumed.
