The Thames Riviera hotel is situated very close to the river. Scenic view of the river, a bridge and a park across the road. The room we had was clean, had a view of the river but toiletries were mean (one small tube of shower gel & shampoo between 2 occupants). Breakfast also included and was adequate. We had dinner the night we checked in but the service was slow due to staff calling in sick and poor Miki was the only staff taking orders, serving, clearing the tables and also serving behind the bar. She really worked hard and did her best.

Attended a Christmas party here. It took over an hour for each course to come out, even though we had pre-ordered from the Christmas menu. Food was average, considering how much we paid. Service was completely unacceptable, no-one was serving drinks and when they did they walked off without taking money (more than one staff did this) and were then rude when we were trying to be honest and pay for them. Toilets had no toilet roll all night. DJ was okay.

Loads of parking spaces and free tables whe we went at lunchtime. Didn't eat so can't comment but menu looked good.

thought we’d go here for breakfast - google says it opens at 7am .. was happy to sit and have a coffee but the aggressive waitress thought better to argue with us that they open at 7:30am - google is wrong - check the actual website - because that’s what people do in 2023 really!!!

I visited Blue River Cafe for some food with a friend outside in the courtyard by the river yesterday lunch time (16.09.23)It was a nice sunny day. There were several issues from start to finish.Firstly, the new patio slabs have replaced the grass area outside whichi thought was a bit naff. When we walked to the bench to sit down we both tripped because there are 2 levels with an unfinished ridge which firstly you don't notice when walking towards the bench to sit down. Very badly designed in our opinion & is most definitely a safety hazard! Be warned.I ordered the Thames burger & my friend ordered a cajun chicken burger! The 1st thing we spotted was the naff buns. They were not nice crisp brioche buns but rather cheap supermarket sesame seed buns. The 2 burgers in my bun instantly made the bun soggy on both sides which made it impossible to pick up to eat even when cutting the burger in half. The chips were also quite a small portion. My friends chicken burger was not "cajun" but rather a bland tasting piece of chicken which she was disappointed with. Her bun was also soggy! The new girl staff who handed us our food offered to get us some sauces or salt etc. We asked for salt & ketchup which didn't arrive so I left the bench to go & get them myself. What came as my surprise was the venue was quite empty with only a few people sitting outside. When I asked where the ketchup & salt was she told me she'd forgotten!?For £16 for each burger we expected much better. Sorry to say we don't rate the food or service & won't be coming back again!Last but not least my car was damaged where I'd parked in the side car park.I came back to my car to find 4 scratches down the passenger side of my car wing so who ever was parked next to me "Thanks for nothing!!" I will now need to spend a couple of hundred pounds getting the deep scratches removed & the wing resprayed!Overall I am NOT happy with our visit to the Blue River Cafe. I thought the place had been closed for a year or so for refurbishment. You would think therefore it would have been completed before reopening.Mind your step if going to sit in the garden on a bench close to the river!A very disappointed disgruntled customer!!

I am a Coeliac - Gluten free food needed. If you or any of your party are as well, simply Don't go, there is no choice. My birthday meal with family. I am amazed that in this day & age this restaurant had only 1 single item that I could eat for dinner - SALAD.(tuna) I asked the waitress to check with the Chef if there were any dishes that could have the gluten omitted, she came back 10 mins later to ask if we were ready to order, She had completely forgotten that she had gone to ask the Chef the question and its not like it was remotely busy in the restaurant. She also couldn't tell me what part of the meal had the gluten in, no clue about the meal or no clue what Gluten was - not sure which, perhaps both. So after having wasted almost half an hour we finished our drinks and left to go to another restaurant. Normally I check the menu out before booking but in general there are always choices, here however I couldn't actually find the menu on the website. Perhaps that should have been a sign DONT GO, NOTHING FOR YOU. I will not be returning or recommending,

Very good standard of food and plentiful. Average prices, wine good value for this standard of restaurant. Not a fan of 12.5% service charge, this should be discretionary .Parking: Limited spaces for size of hotel

If you are looking for a place for having some sip, close to the River and still not too expensive, you dont have to look further. Quiet, nice people... I recommend.

Lovely view. Very pricey menu for what's on offer. I didn't eat here as there is much more on offer around the area.

Lovely, tranquil location right on the Thames.
